My self-summary
Giving this a shot... As with much in my life, my attitude remains "why not?"
I am generally a laid back guy; content and friendly in large groups, talkative and affable in small ones, but always game for whatever life throws at me. And up until now, life sure hasn't been skimping in that department.
I am always on the lookout for something ORIGINAL, whether it be new or old... food, music, tv, movies, conversations, destinations. Would love to find a person who is as keen about exploring new things as I am.
What I’m doing with my life
I work in film. I am hugely passionate about my career, and very much want to leave a stamp on the world in some creative way. Would love to find someone who is as equally passionate about their respective career, whatever that may be. I'm a director/writer to be exact. Directed one feature, won a few awards it probably didnt deserve, still trying to get comfortable with the process
I’m really good at
Using last night's leftovers for some sort of omelette style breakfast creation the next day.
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile... I'm told I'm a smiley guy.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies - standard 20-something male fare of my youth (Jurassic Park, Ghostbusters, Clue, Great Outdoors, Uncle Buck, Princess Bride, Terminator 2, Dumb & Dumber), a few gory horror flicks of my teen years (1982 The Thing, Hellraiser 2, Evil Dead 2, Nightmare of Elm St series) and top it off with some obscure arthouse movies of my time getting a degree in film (Tarkovsky's Nostalgia, Antonioni's Il Deserto Rosso, Dardenne's L'enfant, and Merielles' City of God are all too good to pass up!). But I will always check out new flicks from my fav directors - Scorsese(!), both (unrelated) Andersons - PT & Wes, Nolan, Fincher. I'm also a sucker for special fx flicks... it's a sickness, because a lot of turn out to be really bad but i can't keep away. It's all just so shiny and explosive-y!
TV - Seinfeld, Simpsons, Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, Sopranos, and recently got sucked into Breaking Bad which kinda rocks, Leafs, Jays. Mr. Show. West Wing.
Books - Stephen King and Michael Crichton have a close place to my heart - they were my first "adult" books growing up, and i've read pretty much everything they've done, and hooked me as a booklover ever since. Recently read Selby's THE DEMON, Shriver's WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN and Nassim Taleb's BLACK SWAN, all really great. What's blown me away? Dostoyevsky's BROTHERS KARAMAZOV, Cronin's THE PASSAGE, Sinclair's OIL! and FROM REEL TO DEAL Dov Simons book on indie filmmaking. A. Maze. Ing.
Music - been listening to a downloadable playlists lately, lots of obscure indie rock. Foxygen, Young Jesus, Ty Segall, White Fence, Strange Boys, Grouplove, La Sera, Teenanger, Kurt Vile, Future Islands, Bahamas. Ipod standards include: Black Keys (from a while back, glad to finally see the boys get the recognition they deserve!), Hayden, Pearl Jam, Walkmen, Pinback, Queens of the MF Stone Age, DFA 1979, Sam Roberts, Black Lips, Neil Young, Pixies, Radiohead, Tool...
Food - Indian, Thai, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese. Pretty much anything goes. Death row last meal? A 12oz sirloin topped with a buttered lobster tail, a bottle of shiraz to savour along with it and a chocolate shadow cake for dessert, and three fingers of scotch.
The six things I could never do without

Afternoon on a dock in Muskoka at least once a summer
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Previous conversations
Better one-liners than the ones I came up with on the spot that morning ("Jerk store!")
Whatever song is repeating endlessly in my head at any given time
The best route in the city to make up for however late I am to the next appointment I'm going to...
On a typical Friday night I am
I work in the service industry on weekends, so typically I am doing that... but love to see local concerts, LOVE going to movies, or hit up a bar with some friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My front teeth are fake. Bike accident in gr 4. Ouch
