I am thoughtful, adventureous, and passionate.

My Self-Summary

I'm a 30 year man who just graduated from Cal State East Bay with an M.A. in History. It's a huge relief to have it done, and I am currently recovering while working as a substitute teacher before getting a class of my own. (Which probably isn't the best way to recover from stress, but oh well.) I was born in San Francisco, but spent a lot of time living in Humboldt. I'm still rediscovering this place and all that there is to do here. When I'm not debating progressive politics, I love singing, playing guitar, dancing at the clubs, running in natural areas, watching football, and movies. I love bad movies in the vein of MST3K, and almost anything sci-fi or horror. I have a group that is trying to find the top 10 worst movies ever. For example, the musical, "Xanadu" was really funny. Unfortunately, "Leonard part 6" actually broke my brain. We were going to watch a few more bad movies after that, but went out to a farmers market instead. It actually seemed worse and worse the more I thought about it. The last movies I saw that I actually liked were Goodfellas, Malcolm X and The Naked Gun.

I'm also really into Motown and classic soul these days. They are great musical forms for emotional people such as myself. I love karaoke, because nobody expects the white guy to try Barry White, but I pull it off somehow. I still love rock, and electronica. I like opera because my father is a classical musician. I like that it is considered really sophisticated, even though most of the plots involve death, sex, and selling your soul to the devil. Also, I try to keep in decent shape with boxing, bike riding, dancing and hiking. I'm pretty energetic that way.

I am looking for an intelligent, sweet, yet slightly intense woman for dating. I would especially like to meet someone I could go out dancing with. I grew up learning that women do not need to be "ladylike". Therefore, I like women who will curse in front of me, for example. I like women that are energetic, outgoing, and a little intense. It's very important that women in my life have a good sense of humor. I believe that relationships should involve a lot of laughing, or else it won't work. I love intelligent women, but I should mention that I'm not a snob. I really just like being around women who are aware and have something to say about most things. If you are just going to agree with me on everything, then what's the point? One of my main peeves is people who say "I don't really keep informed about what is going on in the world, because it doesn't affect me." I like women who I can have heated debates with and still be friends with afterwards.

What I’m doing with my life

I've had a lot of random jobs over the years. I was an Alaskan fisherman, a bartender, a radio DJ and a nude model among many others, but have settled on teaching History.

I’m really good at

Public speaking for some reason. I don't really get stage fright, and the more people I'm speaking in front of, the more energy it gives me.

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm very soft spoken, which they realize later can be misleading. I actually can be very passionate a lot of the time.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

A) "Johnny got his gun" was the last one I really loved. B) Kuprick, PT Anderson, but the last great movie I saw was Mel Brook's Silent Movie. Also anything that is so bad it's funny. C) Smokey Robinson, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, and some other things like Opera. D) Sushi, Mexican, Greek. But Ill try almost anything once.

The six things I could never do without

Music, music, did I mention music? Excercise, friends, ask me about the rest.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Politics, music, sports, philosophy, exposing mistakes in bad low budget movies. The state of the world.

On a typical Friday night I am

Out dancing, or watching movies. Always one extreme or another.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I mentioned this before, but I was a nude model for an art class briefly because they got sick of painting nothing but women, and a friend of mine who was an art student convinced me to apply. Ever been nude in front of 30 students with a professor talking about the proper way to get accurate shadows around your genitals? It's surreal. You have to be very comfortable with yourself.

You should message me if

You have a sense of humor, are intelligent, and are looking for someone to go dancing with. Extra points if you like making fun of bad movies.
