My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi.

I'm a personal trainer and am working toward becoming an amateur bodybuilder. I like to read books, write, work out at the gym and occassionally do other stuff. 2011/2012 brought on some serious changes in my lifestyle and outlook, because I'm Becoming an Adult (I assume...I lost the maturity handbook a few years ago and haven't found a replacement yet). I finally tackled my alcoholism and realised that all the time I used to spend drunk could be spent in the gym instead, so that's where I'm at now.

I'm a nice guy who has found a long-term relationship. He's an awesome, sweet guy who is weird, which is great for me. We met in June, 2008, right here on OKCupid. I'm not looking for romance here anymore, but I would like to find a "bromance" with someone who likes to work out and maybe just chill once in a while.

I'm fairly shy and quiet when you first meet me. I used to solve this problem with beer, but realized that that caused a bunch of other problems that weren't so easy to solve, so I've been sober since October 2011. I don't think it's made me boring.

I used to play a lot of rugby, and one day I may go back to it. I feel the pull every spring. Maybe this year will be the year....
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I've decided that stability is over-rated, and so resigned from my stable admin job and am now getting canfitpro certified to be a personal trainer. If I could spend my whole day in the gym, I think I would, and these days I day dream about owning my own little hole-in-the-wall gym where I never have to wait for a squat rack.

Other than lifting weights, the bulk of my time is being spent writing fiction and reading books. Unless I'm in front of the computer reading websites about feminism and social justice.

I also have a growing collection of zombie apocalypse fiction that will one day prove to be my undoing.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Writing, reading, telling bad jokes and puns, a LOT. I also have a talent for confusing people who care about me with my moodiness and tendency to be extremely antisocial to the point of disappearing from the world altogether for extreme lengths of time.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have no clue whatsoever what people notice about me. I have a beard, so there's that. I used to have long hair with the beard, and people said I looked like Jesus, but that's because anyone with long hair and a beard looks like Jesus (even white people like me, even though Jesus probably wasn't white).

I hope that the first thing they notice isn't the booger that's hanging from my nose.

...

...Okay, I just checked, and there isn't a booger, so yeah, probably the beard.

a) The World According to Garp (Irving), The Collector (Fowles), The Magus (Fowles), The Fixer (Malamud), The Crash of Hennington (Ness), Shake Hands with the Devil (Dallaire) b) Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Alien, 28 Days Later c) Green Day, Tragically Hip, The Killers d) Poutine, chili, shepherd's pie.

This list is so ridiculously out of date. I still love poutine, though, which will be my other undoing.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I'm sure some of those elements on the periodic table are important. But do I really need Argon?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Writing, stories, bodybuilding, the universe, you know, the usual.

I'm puzzled about the ways that bias and prejudice keep us from connecting with each other as people. I'm an "includer" and feel like everyone should be able to participate in anything, even if that's not practically possible. I'm the guy who invites everyone to everything and then is confused when people don't play nice.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Going to bed by 9pm because I'm...an early riser, suddenly? I'm still confused by this development.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have no secrets. Know me for long enough and you'll know every single embarrassing story about me. It's kind of sad, really. My epitaph will read "He told us. Everything."
