In my adult life I have lived in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, New York, California, France, and Spain. I've also traveled a bit though I prefer to settle down somewhere and get to know how things work. I've never been in the military and never earned more than the median wage. I love to talk with people who have unconventional ideas and sometimes wish that my body could still tolerate alcohol so that I could hang around in bars.
I suppose one of my biggest flaws for a lot of women is my indifference to food. I eat all the time, mostly healthy food, try everything, never leave a scrap on my plate, and I can cook with or without a recipe, but there are so many other things I'd rather be doing. When the New Yorker does a food issue, I often read the articles -- I mean it's better than the fashion issue -- but I don't understand why people make such a big deal out of food. If you want to go to a farmers market, fine I'll take you and buy something from every stall, but if you want "fine dining" I suggest you need a holiday in Cambodia.
