My self-summary
Hello, my name is Ari. I was born in Mexico, I lived in Seattle for 6 years and I just to SoCal a few months ago for a new job.

I like to see things for what they are, and more importantly, for what they could be. I'm always thinking about ways to improve the things that surround me. Sometimes this leads me to have unconventional ideas. This is, I think, the bread and butter of my personality.
I like to be open minded and try new things. I make it a point to give everything a chance. More often than not, this turns into a pleasant surprise.
I'm not one for small talk but I love intellectual conversations.

Art is my biggest passion. I love to visit museums and check out new artists. I also draw, paint and animate. The later is what I'm best at and what I do for work. Best part about it? I get a legitimate excuse to play with foam swords while I'm at work (for reference.) Well, either that or having a fridge fully stocked with beer.
My second biggest interest is science, and while I do not partake directly in it, I love to read and hear about it. I'm always watching videos, documentaries, TED talks or reading the latest science news and developments.

I appreciate straightforwardness and honesty. I think it makes everything simpler.
What I’m doing with my life
Like I mentioned earlier, I'm an animator. I mostly make character animation for video games. My plans are to become a better artist and eventually an art director, lead animator or something like that. Maybe I will make my own game or film someday. I want to get to influence lots of people through the art I make.

I'm not really into sports but I go to the gym a few days a week, just to stay fit. Plus, it's nice to go and unwind for a while.

I'm also learning how to cook, one recipe at a time. I'm still a newbie but at the very least I can now reliably cook a few things. I like it, except for those times when my kitchen ends up looking like a disaster zone.
I’m really good at
-Making art.
-Coming up with witty observations.
-Guessing what's going to happen next in a movie. Damn you, film class!
-Thinking outside of the box.
-Remembering useless but entertaining facts. Did you know that chewing gum improves memory? While it is a bit disappointing that I didn't have this bit of information when I was in high school, my teeth are probably grateful for it.
The first things people usually notice about me
Hm... I don't know, my accent? People usually ask me if I'm Russian, German, Polish, Belgian (and the list keeps growing). I have to say, though, that I actually get a kick out of adding more countries to that list, it is mildly entertaining.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Incoming blocks of text. Advance with caution!

I'm a bit of a movie snob, but I really like all kinds of movies as long as they are well made. Or really terrible too, to the point of hilarity. Some examples: Christopher Nolan, Oldboy, 3 Iron, Fantasia, Exit through the gift shop, Amelie, Hayao Miyazaki, The Triplets of Belleville. I also like to watch animated movies in general, as it is only natural for an animator. Rango and Ratatouille are probably my favorites.

Shows: Breaking bad, Misfits, Game of Thrones, Six feet under, Firefly, Penn and Teller, Sherlock, Arrested Development, Mad Men and Dr. Who.

Music: Do you know how some people say they like a bit of everything, but then you ask them what they like specifically, and they don't have a clue? Well. I actually do like a bit of everything. Mostly rock and anything mixed with rock. Some jazz, indie, trip-hop, anticon , electronic and experimental. Some of my favorites are: Mike Patton, The Mars volta, King crimson, Pink floyd, Portishead, Cafe tacuba, Morcheeba.

Books: Anything Neil Gaiman, Survivor, Cat's Cradle, The Neverending Story, The Devil's dictionary, Watchmen, The Hobbit, Good Omens, Edweard Muybridge. Right now I'm reading Slaughterhouse five and I'm listening to Mort as an audiobook.

Food: Mexican, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Pizza and craft beer.

Games (I am a game artist, after all): Shadow of the Colossus, SSBB, Mario Galaxy 2, Eternal Darkness, TLOZ, Resident Evil 4, Bioshock, Minecraft, HoN, Borderlands, Portal.
The six things I could never do without
Other than the usual suspects:
1- Art.
2- Deadpan humor.
3- Sarcasm.
4- Living on my own.
5- Online dictionaries/wikis/google. Seriously, I check these several times a day.
6- Online forums. I love to read and discuss stuff with other people.
6-Repeating numbers.
7- Going over the top.
8-Maybe I should stop now.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why is plaindrome not a palindrome?
Why is "common sense" called like that when it is so uncommon?
Where is Waldo? And more importantly, where are my keys? Oh, right. They are in my other pocket.

On a more serious note, I am often philosophizing about random things. Free will, art, science and society. I often find myself imagining various situations, wondering what I would do in each scenario. What would I do if I was the last person on Earth? What would I say in my speech if I won an award? What would it be like to meet an alien race?
On a typical Friday night I am
Sometimes I just chill at my place and watch some Netflix, read, make silly photoshops for internet glory, draw, cook something or play games. Other times I go out with friends, to a movie, bar or something. One of them owns an old-school arcade and sometimes he hosts parties on Fridays. Those are pretty cool.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a not-so-secret-anymore document on my computer where I write jokes in case I ever decide to try stand-up comedy. I have never shown or told them to anyone.
