My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I've just moved back to Seattle after 7 years of learning about a quieter lifestyle in Tacoma. Lived aboard a sailboat for 10 years and loved it, although it's been great to be cozy and warm again as a landlubber. Even so, I'm eager to sail on the Sound and go gunkholing in the San Juans or Canada. I'm an active 66 yr old who loves staying fit and healthy (currently doing the Paleo lifestyle) and being with good friends and special family members who're real and relaxed. I'm working part time serving seniors, which is fulfilling and engaging, but I’m ready to make more space in my life to spend time with a special man who's ready for a partnership. I'd enjoy dinner (sharing the cooking of great food at home or eating at favorite restaurants), movies, dancing (especially my new passion = ballroom dancing!), walks, road trips exploring Vashon Island and small towns throughout the Pacific Northwest, and of course sailing to get to know each other. I’d really like to find someone who's ready to explore life together and who's looking for a mate -- I am. It would be a bonus if he shares an interest in eastern philosophy as one of the world’s great sources of ancient wisdom, but I'm pretty tolerant of all other paths. I’m open to learning from other belief systems and know that all paths lead to the same Source. After growing up in the Deep South, I’ve discovered the global diversity that makes this world a fascinating playground. My political views are liberal -- I hope yours are too, even if we have different opinions of world events. Life is short, so let's enjoy being curious about our differences and being playful every day!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Life is full and rich, and I’m blessed to have experienced several lifetimes of adventure. Now I'm doing meaningful work helping seniors organize their lives and live independently. I enjoy collaborating with family members, caregivers, care managers, legal and financial professionals and others to manage daily life and bring a sense of calm to what can be a chaotic transition into the geriatric years. I’m learning about being a spiritual being having a human experience.....spent time with Amma, a guru and humanitarian from southern India and have done a lot of inner work to figure out what this trip around is about. I volunteer with a couple of community and sailing groups and I have two grandchildren I adore who live on Lopez Island….so trips to the San Juans in my future! Learning about eating Paleo/caveman foods and walking most mornings to stay healthy and lean, loving ballroom dancing for more exercise and fun social contact, and ....discovering fabulous recipes and having fun creating them. All of this makes me happy, and yet I would love to find a sweetheart of a guy to share life with.....discovering the many ways we're alike and different by design.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
….bringing good energy to relationships, physical spaces, complex projects. I like less clutter, more light, and more peace in all of the above. I’m physically coordinated and enjoy boating, dancing, yoga and hiking. I’m also good at reading people, listening for what’s really being said, and remembering what makes someone feel special. I’m good at navigation, keeping wind in the sails, and cooking a mean dinner in the galley while underway. At first I'm a little quiet, preferring to let others have the limelight. Once I know you're real, I'm especially good at opening my heart, making life fun, and loving big time.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
… my eyes.....and that I'm slender even in my 60s.....and that I look like an interesting woman to get to know

Just read The Kite Runner, The Red Tent, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (probably will read the entire trilogy), and now Kristin Hannah's local novels (Home Front and Winter Garden). Oh, and of course I've read the 50 Shades books -- what a trip! Movies like Good Will Hunting, Sideways, Silver Linings, etc. (with real relationships) interest me much more than action flicks, but I can watch them if there's a genuine plot. Love classic old B&W 30s and 40s movies, and Aida, Phantom or any live show at the theater. Music of all kinds makes me want to move and dance......from Delta Blues to the classics of the 70s to Iranian/Persian sounds to salsa and other Latin beats to woodwind's all magical. Also love cooking with lots of fresh organic veggies/herbs/spices and fresh fish or poultry to make hearty, delicious healthy dinners (not an oxymoron). Thai, Indian, Mexican, and most ethnic foods are great. French food tempts me....I just wish the sauces weren't so rich! A good Vietnamese Pho is outrageous on a cold, drizzly day......
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Amma, my spiritual teacher
Loving friends, family and a special man
Being outdoors in nature and on the water
Sailing, cruising and gunkholing
Cooking good food and sharing it
Reading a good book
NPR and PBS - yeah, I know that's seven or eight things, but I've always been passionate about so much!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I want to build a relationship with a man with good values who cherishes what we share.....someone who loves being outdoors together, ideally boating and cruising or traveling to other cultures whenever we can.....or just taking delight in discovering our differences as we unpack each other’s baggage and lighten our load….someone who is comfortable enough with himself to say he’s sorry….has his life together and is responsible for his own happiness…….is curious about what makes people tick… kind to all creatures…..and makes me laugh as we travel alongside each other down life’s path. He may or may not be a sailor with a bohemian, barefoot lifestyle to balance his sophistication. Either way, he's laid back and has a sense of humor that catches me off guard, especially when he's playful at the most unexpected moment!
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
…..home early or going out to share Mexican food and an easy night of conversation and laughter over a glass of wine….looking forward to Saturday open-ended time
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
… that I still love really deeply from the heart even after surviving heartbreaks from the past

….you’re a lovely human being who’s playful, a great companion for dinner and movies, a totally fun outdoor activity partner, willing to go dancing, and eventually looking for a long term relationship.
