My self-summary
I'm into a lot of stuff.

There's more on my website, but mostly my interests are in cognitive and social neuroscience, meditation, social recommendation algorithms, web 2.0 games for smart people, hacking, conlangs, linguistics, languages, massage, making cool things, ... it's kinda hard to summarize. I'm just generally unusual.

I like people who are intelligent, self-aware, empathic, knowledgeable, geeky, healthy, eloquent, somewhat androgyne / genderless, and have a good balance of rationalism and spirit, of the real and the non-mundane.

I have a partner of five years and a girlfriend of one. They're both lovely. Alas, the former is now long distance (and going to become further still); the latter will be back in the area soon but isn't around now.

It'd be nice to have more good-friends(-plus) — people to have intellectual play with, cuddle, share skritches / massage, etc. (I'd particularly like to have more friends who have the rare mixture of rationalism and energy-work.)

That doesn't rule out sex or starting a new Relationship more than a friends-with-benefits; it's just not a very high priority for me, so I'm not actively seeking it — but I'm not default rejecting either. So if you think we'd be compatible, feel free to ask me on a date .

If you're not familiar with polyamory, please read this FAQ. Basically, my partners' comfort and consent is very important to me (as is yours). It's not really a problem, just means they're looped in on my decisions.
What I’m doing with my life
My day job is as a software developer in mobile security.

My other job is a project to turn all governments into liquid democracies.

I also do a lot of other things that catch my fancy, like making clothing or suing the TSA.
I’m really good at
Massage, computers, languages, introspection, writing, and *extreme* enjoyment of skritches are the most readily noticeable.

Actually, it's more generally that I have an extreme reaction to nearly all pleasant sensation, but skritches are particularly high on the list and something you can easily do in public.

People tend to find this very amusing/rewarding; I love being pleased; it's nicely win/win. You should try this. Ask first, and don't use it to interrupt my sentences, but you'll probably find it highly entertaining.
The first things people usually notice about me
I wear unusual clothing frequently - e.g. a kilt, toeshoes, Northpaw anklet, greatkilt, sarong, cloak, Japanese formal outfit, Thai wraparound pants, toesocks, rainbow socks, moonstone & Persian 4-in-1 necklace, etc. I've made many of them.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
(a) Lt. Col. Dave Grossman - On Killing; Edward Klima and Ursula Bellugi - The Signs of Language (1 & 2); Thomas E. Payne - Describing Morphosyntax; Douglas Hofstadter - Gdel, Escher, Bach; Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman - The Death Gate Cycle; Robert Jordan - The Wheel of Time (first few books only, alas); John Marshall - Make Your Own Japanese Clothes; Charlotte Baker-Shenk and Dennis Cokely - American Sign Language, Teacher's Resource Text; Orson Scott Card - Ender's Game

(c) Satriani, Hanson, Metallica, Irish folksong (and filksong), Del da Funkee Homospaien, McLachlan, Rachmaninoff, Georges Brassens, Stroke 9, Mashina Vremeni ... anything not too distorted, loud, repetitive, or incoherent to enjoy.

(d) If it's vegetarian, healthy, and tasty I'll try anything twice. What *I* make tends to be pretty weird - e.g. (from unusually normal to normally unusual): smoke & blueberry ice cream; cubed potatoes + yams w/ sour cream; bagel w/ cream cheese, avocado, and Vegemite; cottage cheese w/ sour cream, TVP, and Nerds; pizza w/ gorgonzola, raisins, cranberries, hummus, peaches, and walnuts; smoothie w/ vanilla, vanilla ice cream, bananas, and Brussels sprouts.
The six things I could never do without
Emotional stimulation. Mental stimulation. Food. Water. Air. Capital-L Life.

... That's it, really. I've survived on that minimum, and I've survived on more, but more is a luxury that can obscure the fundamentals if not watched carefully.

The first and last are the kickers.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to help people take over the world. No, really, that's kinda what my main project is about.
On a typical Friday night I am
Studying, writing emails, programming, researching obscure points of linguistics, neuroscience, or cryptography, listening to music, trying to remember to keep up the constant meditation, organizing another conlangs project, ...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
All this stuff. E.g.:

I'm extremely catlike - e.g. I purr (as a pharyngeal trill), have a tendency to nuzzle people I really like, knead nice textures, and am absurdly reactive to pleasant stimuli.

I have a (non-Tourette's) tic disorder; sometimes I have muscle spasms or go mute for a little while. It's mostly just frustrating, sometimes painful. The link has details; you don't really need to do much about it, as I'm quite used to coping by now. Meds control it somewhat but it's not really curable.

I'm very easily bribed by being sung to, blueberries (mmmmmmm, blueberries), good dark chocolate, massage, etc.
I’m looking for
  • Guys and girls who like bi guys
  • Ages 22–46
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
You think we're both interesting.

My contact info is on my website. Please use it and not OKC's messaging, since the latter does not work well for me.

Please skip the small talk. Hopefully *something* on here has been eye-catching enough to be a worthy topic of conversation to start with. Let's have a real conversation.

We could have it IRL if you like and are nearby. I like hot chocolate and good vegetarian food.
