My self-summary
I've been described as verbose, analytical and creative. I'm definitely the first two things, but not so sure about the last. I can be sweet, but I don't take social exclusion or lazy thinking lying down.

Feel free to say hello, perhaps mentioning something about yourself and what inspired you to contact me or even what you had for breakfast. That is, if you want to. You can also go off and eat a slice of banana bread. It's probably sweeter me. No, really.
What I’m doing with my life
Taking a break from the daily grind. I used to work in the public service and before that I worked in social research.

I'm thinking of studying writing (or whatever, man) at some point. Can writing really be taught, beyond the correction of grammar, spelling and highlighting of split infinitives? Does anyone really give a fuck about split infinitives? I know I sure don't. Unfortunately I care about the inappropriate use of semi-colons. Oh well. Everyone has their thing.

Anyway, my point is that I'm not sure it's really possible to teach a person to write well. To put together a compelling narrative, to write realistic dialogue, to structure a story so that it sings, crescendos and shocks. The scariest thing is that unlike Maths, you never quite know if you're getting it right. I can understand why many artists abuse drugs and alcohol - there's just no certainty to whether your work is even "interesting." And to whom exactly do we need it to be interesting in order for it to be a success? Hand me another Scotch. (I don't drink any alcohol, by the way, that's just my cliched imagining of what an alcoholic artist might say.)
I’m really good at
Being self-deprecating. Although that sounds about as logical as saying "I'm really good at being modest."
The first things people usually notice about me
Can I just say I really hate this prompt? The answer is BANAL:

1. I am an Asian female.
2. I am an Asian female with an Australian accent.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
All-time favourites are quite boring to rinse and repeat so I shall say that some of the most interesting films, television and books I've come across lately include:

Panic Room (because David Fincher is a God).
Mad Men.
The Boat, by Nam Le.
The six things I could never do without
Respect.
Engagement with others.
Free speech.
People who I can disagree with so that they may change my mind where necessary.
Dreams.
Quips about all the silly things we dream about.
On a typical Friday night I am
Why are Fridays so important?

  • For new friends

You have an opinion but aren't an elitist douchebag about it.

I'm actually much friendlier in person than this write-up would suggest. I might get around to changing that (either my personality to match this write-up, or this write-up to match my personality).
