My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Born and raised on the East Coast, I fled to California for my life after graduating from college. I have always loved the terrain, the climate, the air, the sea; and I've hiked and biked miles to appreciate and enjoy it.
I am a teacher, a mom, a sister, a daughter, and a friend. I'm happy with my life and am looking to expand my social and spiritual horizons.
I am perplexed that OK Cupid rates my personality as arrogant, aggressive, and old fashioned. I would be scared away if I read that about a guy, but please don't you be. Honest, I can explain! Growing up, I never had a voice. A woman was supposed to be subservient. Remember those days? Well now, I enjoy my work, I speak out, I am confident about what I have to say, and I enjoy saying it. Is that arrogant? Is that aggressive? But I still am old-fashioned in a way. I like the gentleman to open the door for the lady. I prefer a gentle, subtle show of affection. I like getting "dressed up." I do believe in old-fashioned values--honesty, integrity, respect, consideration, civil discourse, penmanship, reading books.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Trying to find a balance between work and home life. As a high school teacher, am actively involved in professional development, school redesign, and community involvement.
Garden, daily yoga, eat healthy, reflecting on how I want to create the rest of my life. My son is college age and currently living at home; our relationship is evolving as he matures.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Breathing is one of my greatest talents(!) Keeping a well-maintained home. Developing rapport with teenagers.
Skills I learned when I was growing up: read music, play a few musical instruments in addition to rubber bands, table tops, straws, and crystal glasses. I can draw, knit, crochet and sew. I am really good at grammar and spelling--a master! I'm a good driver and a fairly good dancer.
I'm good at finding stuff.... lost keys, solutions to problems, and your sore spots to massage.
I can lounge comfortably, but I can also dress up and break ice. I can make you feel like you're the most important person in the world, because to me you are.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
air, water, food, shelter, loved ones, coffee, meaningful work, some place to swim.... -- ooops that's 8.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I spend a lot of time thinking about the innovations that bring balance, health and joy to a troubled world. I think about my relationships and conversations. I think about the popular uprisings around the world. I think about all forms of artistic expression. I think about how to reach a troubled teen.
I also think about what you and I could do together. Places I'd like to visit.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Relaxing after a satisfying week's work, watching a movie, meeting friends for a drink, getting ready for the weekend.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I cry at parades. Not because they make me sad, but because I am suddenly overtaken by seeing young people (marching bands, dance corps in particular) work so hard to make their performance look effortless.
