My self-summary
Ich bin von 25. Mai bis 7. Juli in Berlin, und möchte, Freunde zu machen. Mein Deutsch ist gar nicht perfekt, aber ich kann viel verstehen. Vielleicht könntest du mir helfen. :)

NOTE: I will likely not respond to messages that come off as impersonal to me. This includes: messages that do not mentioning anything in my profile (which makes me think that you haven't actually read it), resemble a copy/pasted message, or are only a couple of words long.

That being said...

My interests include reading, languages, cooking, eating, linguistics, sociology, singing, and social justice. I can get excited about pretty much anything if it is presented in a certain way.

I identify as Queer, pansexual/-romantic, genderqueer, polyamorous, pro-neurodiversity, fat, Italian-American, Black, introverted, and sex-positive (more -neutral, really - message me if this sounds questionable to you). I know these labels can be intimidating and seem excessive, but I want to give an idea of my worldview. I am very open-minded and respectful of those with differing identities and points of view.

I am 420 friendly but rarely participate. I aspire to non-hierarchical relationships.
What I’m doing with my life
I study comparative literature and linguistics at a liberal arts college outside of Philadelphia. When I'm not in class or studying, I'm community-building, fangirling about some language shit, or - now that it's warm - rolling around in the grass. I'll probably continue on to get an advanced degree and try to stay in school as long as possible (if you know anything about being paid to study/hoard information, please pass on the information).
I’m really good at
Listening, analyzing (usually too much).
The first things people usually notice about me
I'd love to say it's some aspect of my personality, but really, it's my boobs and/or hair. They precede me when I walk into a room.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Literature: The Stranger, The Master and Margarita, The Color Purple, Kafka, Everything is Illuminated, Beckett. Plath, Ovid, Michael Dickman.

Movies/plays: Sweeney Todd (the play), Little Shop of Horrors, Shortbus, Star Wars, The Bad Seed, Mädchen in Uniform, Der junge Törless, Angst essen Seele auf, documentaries. Tim Burton is a guilty pleasure of mine, but I haven't liked the past few films he's been involved with.

TV: I don't keep up with many TV shows, but watch casually/catch re-runs. The Cooking Channel, Food Network (Good Eats!). Shows by Bryan Fuller. Scrubs, Dexter, Weeds, US of Tara (LET'S TALK ABOUT REPRESENTATIONS OF MENTAL HEALTH IN THE MEDIA).

Music: Genuinely anything (no exceptions). I've mostly been listening to Folk rock and Classical music lately, though. Simon & Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, Cat Stevens (Yusuf), Belle & Sebastian, Joanna Newsom, The Decemberists, Kate Bush, Morley, Weelkes, Haydn, des Prez, Joy Division, Cloud Cult, Tracy Chapman.

Food: EVERYTHING. Actually everything. As long as it's meatless. Especially Italian (unless it's pesto).

[9/23/12 Addendum - I actually had some really delicious sundried tomato pesto a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps I could slowly acquire a taste for real pesto.]

Games: Not a lot tbh. The Legend of Zelda series is notable.
The six things I could never do without
- Stimulating conversation
- Access to knowledge/information
- Good music
- Alone time
- Nature
- A medium for recording/exploring my thoughts
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My future, the sociological and psychological implication of interactions and events, how to charm/become best friends with that cute QPOC I keep seeing around, how many of my interests/identity labels are markers of my privilege, if I'll ever be able to present androgynous (or anything aside from overtly feminine).

How to express (x) without someone thinking I mean (y).

Intersectionality.
On a typical Friday night I am
At home fooling around on the internet, hanging out, or (during the school year) putting off homework until Sunday.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I conform to the INTJ type outline to an extent that is almost embarrassing.

I tend to have trouble making statements that aren't from the "I" perspective (if you haven't noticed that already). This might make me seem self-centered, but I genuinely just don't know how to speak in another way.

These are cop-out answers.
I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 18–30
  • Near me
  • For new friends, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
You're poly and/or Queer and/or a radical/progressive PoC looking to make more friends in the area! :3

You aren't going to assume that because I am pansexual and polyamorous that I ~really like sex, lol~, and thus you can treat me however you'd like. Seriously. I'm apparently going to have to start being a little more straightforward about this.
