My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
The first things that come to mind...
- Born in Los Angeles, fortunate to have lived in different cities and countries, and travel a lot for work. Just back from a month working in Portland -- what a wonderful city!
- Gene Kelly was my first crush, Shakespeare was my second. I'd love to be friends with Jon Stewart!
- If I wasn't in the arts, I would be a civil rights attorney for the ACLU.
- I love what I do, and am grateful for the opportunities it provides me.
- Sunflowers make me smile and have done so since I was 13.
- I have a legitimate gluten allergy - I'm not being trendy, it's a pain in the ass.
- A Cleveland Indians fan by blood, a Seminole since gradschool, and a loyal Laker fan (even though they are AWFUL!). I was a figure skater for 10 years.
- Bart's Books in Ojai is the most unique bookstore ever! -- After just getting back from Portland, I am amending my previous statment and adding in Powells bookstore as amazing!
- My dog is named after Merlin's rival in the Sword in the Stone -- I wear my geek hat proudly.
- The only thing better than the ocean and is living by it.
- Keep Tahoe Blue!
-Teaching has been one of the best surprises of my life!
-Laughter heals all!
- If I need to think, my favorite thing to do is get in the car with the dog and drive, hopefully ending up at some body of water.
- Practice really does make better, and every day is a new opportunity.
- I am a very tolerant and understanding person. I tend to see the good in people, even if it's way down deep. But what I don't tolerate is lying or inauthenticity - be honest, be you!
- Looking For a Bert to my Ernie!

What about you?
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
The short version is I am an opera/theatre director and an acting coach who moved home to help her father out with some things and to be closer to friends and family. Yes, I actually direct opera and I am fortunate enough to make a living doing so, and yes I love my family enough (crazy as they may be and as nuts as they drive me) to want to be able to see them more than a couple times a year. And friendships 20+ years old are not friends, they are family. Life is short and I was too far away, and you can freelance from anywhere, so I came home. And like all of us, I'm trying to figure it out, one damn day at a time, sometimes one hour at a time, but hopefully with a smile on my face and an "anything is possible" outlook. The truth is, and I'm not afraid to admit it, for the most part I'm pretty happy--things could be better, sure, but they also could be a helluvalot worse...and I'm grateful. Not to sound cliche, but I am working on being the best version of myself possible and am invested in creating an environment filled with like minded inviduals seeking similar goals. If you are intersted in the longer version, let me know and we'll trade stories.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making people laugh, and making sure you're ok. It's the nurturer, teacher, Jewish DNA, female in me...I dont' know, it's just me.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Big smile or loud laughter. I laugh a lot.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Music: Everything, absolutely everything! I'm usually listening to a combination of the music from the latest show I am working on, whatever is shuffling on my iPod, and the local NPR station for news and music. I'm coming off a production of Wagner's The Flying Dutchman and prepping for a production of Showboat, so there's a lot of opera and musical theatre in there right now. But there is also a lot of The Civil Wars being listened to right now. Update: new found love: a Tom Waits album od sea shanties and pirate songs with guest arists. Best cut on the album is Waits and Keith Richards singing Shenandoah. F'ing amazing!!

This is just a going to Barts Books in Ojai and hunting for treasures!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. My dog (she's the best!)
2. The Ocean (or another body of water)
3. Coffee (Hazelnut, please)
4. A cause to fight for (blame my mother and being on a picket line at age 5)
5. Music (especially the Grateful Dead and Mozart and Wagner's operas)
6. Laughter (with my family, friends, by myself...with you, perhaps)

and a bonus... a good book!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I'm a dreamer...of using theatre, music, dance--all the arts--to educate, inspire, and help make the world a better place.

Being happy and doing things that make me and others smile.

My friends and family. One of the hardest parts of my work is the amount of time I am away from them.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I'm usually in rehearsal or working...then at home with the dog or at a bar with friends decompressing; an opera, a play, a concert or a movie would be nice too.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Contrary to popular belief, I am really quite shy and do like to be quiet, but like a lot of performers, I tend to hide in plain sight. Also...I would love to be the lead singer of a rock band!

You are interested in exploring the outskirts of Los Angeles and like adventures. Have you been to Salvation Mountain art installation south of Palm Springs? Want to go? You want to get to know a caring, intelligent, outgoing, and motivated gal who is looking for a thoughtful, intelligent and funny guy who is doing what he loves or working on making that happen. Jewish would be a nice common denominator, but not necessary. You are understanding of a slightly untraditional and sporadic work schedule - maybe even have one yourself. If so... Let's grab a drink or a cup of coffee and plot how we can save the world... or at least have a good laugh!!
