Everyone is so much more than their choice of their profile name,
some people choose something catchy, others something that
represents their core or current beliefs. How long do you keep your
profile name?
Perhaps because I moved every few years for most of my life I value
things that you can keep. I like names, profile names that don’t
overly define you; names that provoke questions, names you can
change and grow with.
I know it’s pretty silly in these days of rapid change but
shouldn’t we try to anchor that change with things that have
consistency. Wouldn’t be nice to come back to OKC in a few years
and find some of the same people behind the profile names.

I suspect there won't be many nonsmokers or whose who strongly
dislike smoking reading this. Also people not interested in
quitting are unlikely to gravitate to the topic, so much for any
benefit in OKC points. So I’ll be brief in my rant.
I’ve really enjoyed smoking, with coffee in the morning, a drink,
that break at work where you go out for a smoke, stop and think,
and damn if you don’t come up with at least 2-3 new approaches to
solving the problem you’ve been struggling with almost an hour.
Long sentence but I think it flowed reasonably well, wasn’t too
awkward, especially since that’s all I’m going to say about the
positives of smoking.
Smoking is bad for you, that’s what everyone says, and yes it’s
true, I do need to quit.
But before I go to the other side, to the non-smokers (hopefully
successfully since I’ve been smoking as I write this) I have a few
gripes.
What’s with No Smoking in a parking garage?? I’m pretty sure the
output of pollution from even a Prius with A/C on, driving through
the garage for a week or maybe even a day exceeds my second hand
smoke for a year. Have you ever held your hand up to a car’s
exhaust pipe? That’s a hell of a lot of air with pollution. Want to
hold your hand to my mouth? Sorry it won’t work, I’m typing.
I agree that smoking in enclosed building and homes is different.
But banning smoking in bars? I think most would agree they’ve
gotten in to more trouble from drinking than smoking. And is
drinking alcohol good for you? Why not ban that too? Wait, no I
didn’t mean that. I think for now working on just quitting smoking
is enough.
What about the non-smoking people who work in bars? What about the
coal miners? What about the person who sits in front of a computer
monitor typing all day? All work and habits expose us to risks.
Different risks that we as adults try to protect our children from
as well as ourselves.
For me smoking until now has been less of a risk than many of the
things that people expose themselves to everyday.
Thanks if you have read this far and please keep informed about
things you need to protect yourself from. Keep things in balance,
your loves, wealth and health. It's not just that smoke that might
irritate you.

Quiting Smoking
I've no clue why Cupid seems to think the following is true, I’d
like to clarify Cupid’s rating’s it case you compare
profiles:
More Into Drugs ( 31.4% ) - I'm tolerant of their use but don’t use
them myself.
More Greedy ( 12.4% ) – Sure maybe now more, but I haven’t been in
the past. I suppose that at my age if I don’t assert my needs when
will I? Maybe true.
Not More Lawful ( -43.6% )– I definitely feel that currently the
“LAW” as defined by the current US administration is unlawful. I
have a higher level government security clearance???? Never have
been arrested.
Not More Republican ( -17% ) – I’m much more than that, say 98-99%.
I wasn’t 8 + years ago before george w. bush then maybe 40-49%.
What’s up with McCain ?? I might have even considered him before he
became a front runner. Now he has realigned most of his platform
along the current republican administration's views.
More Desiring of Sex ( 0% ) – I’m much more desiring than that, I
would give myself at least 55-75%. Its Less important now but I’m
still not willing to give it up.
More Spiritual ( -8.8% )– Well I don’t go to church and I’m not
active in any organized religion, but I do consider it more
important than politics though not as much as family and
friends.
Less Emotional ( -20.7% ) – I’ve been accused of being too
emotional at times with both my male friends and my wife I’m
separating from. How can you not be emotional about that? I’ve had
people say I “wear my heart on my sleeve. I wouldn’t say I’m overly
emotional, but -20%?
