My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
About Me: Still exploring life, very low threshold for joy, and horrifyingly honest. I've had the big house and the snappy cars and have come to the conclusion that small and simple is preferable to big, shiny, and fast. Afterall, he who dies with the most toys is nonetheless DEAD. Of course, I expect to maintain a comfortable existence until that time (e.g. no camping or other unnecessary suffering). Although I can be outgoing under some circumstances, I’d rather spend most of my time with a few close friends.

Shockingly, I've learned that some people lie on the internet, so I will tell you upfront that I’m looking for friendship as much as romance at this point. I’m assuming that friendship and romance can blend more smoothly at this stage of our lives, if we choose to take that path. I aim to be in love one more time..

About You: You should be intelligent, emotionally articulate, well-read, light hearted, utterly honest, and maintain an active sense of wonder. Additional qualities worth extra points include; proximity to London, susceptibility to life's everyday aphrodisiacs, and a tolerance for fun.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Recently retired (Jan 2012) and have decided to stretch perceptions a little. I'm currently gutting and rebuilding my apartment in London while exploring Europe fairly aggressively. Eventual goal is to split time between Washington (to annoy the kiddo), London (because it's fun), and Jerez (porque es alli).

I'm still not sure what I'll do when I grow up.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Smoothing out life's travails. Finding new types of irreducibility criteria.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've no inability to synchronize with my surroundings, perhaps.

Also...while on this subject...I've noticed a lot of profiles include statements starting with something like "My friends would describe as..." Am I the only one with friends that have never tried to describe my personality while I'm in their presence? Do you think my friends might be insensitive louts...or could it be that some people have friends with ineffective sociological filters?

As a lifelong fan of SciFi I've never run into a book that was too cheesy for my taste. I prefer movies that either require no thought at all or leave me mystified. Both Rossini and Pink Floyd make me cry. Food should be spiced to excess.

Update: How come nobody ever told me about Flann O'Brien? The Third Policeman is the best thing I've read in years!

Further update: I'll really miss Christopher Hitchens.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Time, Feminine Influence, Peace, Splendor, Beauty, and Aspirations.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.

On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Roaming around looking for food. I'm usually home by 9 or 10 so as not to be crushed by the "Party People".
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I've signed up on an internet dating site.
