My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi. I'm Emerald, and I change my profile too often. When I'm not busy changing my profile though, I am a student, using my GI Bill from the 5 years I spent as a journalist in the Air Force to get my undergrad out of the way. I'm doing this grown-up thing backward. Five year awesome career, THEN school. And now I'm trying to work the relationship thing into my life since I will actually be in the same place for more than a year or two at a time. Also because being lonely sucks. Its about to get cold, and I need someone to go ice skating with, or drink wine with. Or both.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I went from being a journalist in the Air Force to being a personal care-taker of sorts, to working at an advertising agency, to studying biology in Cambridge. Because life is too awesome to be boring.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making people laugh. Dancing poorly (which is a skill in and of itself, and if you possess the same skill, lets go awkwardly dancing!). Talking about things I don't actually understand enough to finally understand them. Being spontaneous (in the way of last minute road trips or adventures, not combustion). Being positive about the most depressing things.

How incredibly generic looking I am. Or how incredibly good looking I am. Depends on who you're asking, I suppose.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Movies/shows: Documentaries. Anything about astrophysics (its so fascinating but I'd never be able to handle all the math, so I take comfort listening to popular scientists about the things I only wish I could actually comprehend). I was disappointed with shark week this year. I love My Fair Lady/Audrey Hepburn in general. The words 'cerebral' and 'mind-bending' come up on Netflix's suggestions for me a lot, so I guess that's something.

Books: I love them but only have time for non-fiction. I will read War and Peace one day. It is just sitting on my shelf, sadly, waiting to be read.

Food: I love sushi. I once ate a scorpion, but I don't necessarily recommend it (I was with a survival team, I don't generally just go out and round up scorpions for dinner). Mac and cheese will always be the best thing about life, especially when hungover.

Music: I've recently been on a Ben Howard and Civil Wars kick. But that really says nothing about the range of music I love, and even less about the range of music I like and/or tolerate.
The six things I could never do without

I don't understand the rating portion of this website. I sometimes just go in there and get really judgmental and start pressing buttons, but they're usually completely arbitrary. Someone explain the function of that portion, please.

If you have a beard. But if not you can make it up to me by wrestling a bear, or just wearing flannel.

Or if you just want to show me around, or talk about books and science, or go ice skating, or let me indulge in any other fall-inspired girly things with me... in return I'll watch football with you or something.

Or if I just looked at your profile (especially after you looked at mine, I mean, come on). The odds are pretty good that I was just too awkward to say anything.
