My self-summary
i don't believe in these sites. hiding behind a screen trying to portray ones ideal image of themselves through carefully chosen pictures and witty yet cliche words is contributing to the demise of face to face social connection, allowing too much room for judgement, and generally lowering ones self esteem by comparing themselves to others. having said that, this is seattle and i see no hope of the freeze thawing, so, i am here in a hopefully not vain attempt to make real, meaningful, and interesting connections.

i am new at this and hate talking about myself in this context, but, that's kind of the point so here it goes... i just started nannying after teaching preschool for 10 years. (i am a teacher who hates our education system) so, i am hoping to open my own early childhood program that supports kids as people and meaningful contributors to our society. i should probably go back to school myself but it feels a little scary at this point.

i enjoy being outdoors and having good conversations. my friends would say i am open, honest, and free spirited. i love to travel and try to get away from seattle at least once a month. Sometimes it's a big trip (my most recent trip was to iceland) and sometimes it's a weekend getaway to the mountains or the ocean. although i don't have car anymore so weekend trips are not happening as much as i would like.

this life for me is about connecting with people and learning about life from experiences good, bad, and everything in between.

i have been with my boyfriend sayrefc for 6.5 years. together we are practicing polyamory. we are happy and committed to each other, but that doesn't restrict us from being happy and connected to other people as well.

i am a vegetarian, humanitarian, the best parallel parker in town, can play euchre pretty well, and always appreciate the sight of mt. rainier. i believe that success in life has nothing to do with the typical "american dream" and find myself very happy as a poor teacher.

to thine own self be true (i recently learned that this quote is written on the back of sobriety coins... this is not why i like it)
What I’m doing with my life
making mistakes and learning beautiful lessons, growing as a person and a member of the human race, trying to make the world a better place for kids, and generally enjoying life.
I’m really good at
understanding people, parallel parking, picking the right time to be stubborn and the right time not to be, working under pressure, and communicating.
The first things people usually notice about me
i don't know, probably something superficial
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
i have been on a crazy reading binge lately. i am a tom robbins fan through and through. i am just finished reading david sedaris' short stories and sarah waters' tipping the velvet. i have a habit of going to the bargain tables at book stores and picking up random novels. i also appreciate good children's literature. (charlotte's web makes me cry every time)

i try not to watch tv too much though i do keep up with the walking dead and homeland...

i listen to classic rock and blues (preferably on vinyl) though i am trying hard to keep up with modern music. i have been dabbling in some indie rock and folk music recently.
The six things I could never do without
freedom, my thoughts, music, mountains, books, and friends
I spend a lot of time thinking about
my next adventure.... travel, hikes, building igloos, what it means to be a good person, and where to draw the line when it comes to taking care of others so i can take care of me, what the world would be like if the communal mentality and free love of the '60's were to combine forces with the current collective consciousness to create a new peaceful culture.
On a typical Friday night I am
i don't believe in being typical. but i am probably headed to the gym because i just joined and have to get my money's worth, even on fridays...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
the only bra i own is from my halloween costume
