I am happy, funny, and quite clever.

My Self-Summary

I like riding on buses. Films, trashy and not so trashy. Cooking and eating. Reading. Dancing.

I've tried to leave, but I love living in London. For some reason every time I go to Swiss Cottage I get a huge rush of affection for it. I'm not sure why - it's a pretty ugly place - but I think it has something to do with it being uncompromisingly urban. Similarly, I recently got very excited taking a bus up Kilburn High Road - by what? Pound shops and vegetable stalls? I can't quite put my finger on it, but suffice to say: a) I'm not planning any moves to the country and b) I'm easily pleased (three aubergines for a pound - made my day).

Having said that, I do like green places, and the sea, and I'm not averse to a night or two under canvas. And I'm a sucker for a fire - outside or in (but preferably under control).

What I’m doing with my life

I do writing. Though still, it is surprisingly difficult to write this kind of thing.

I’m really good at

Playing with lego. Assembling flat packed furniture.

The first things people usually notice about me

I often get told that I smile a lot.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Annie Proulx, Garrison Keillor, Jane Smiley.
Films: LA Confidential, Goodfellas, When Harry Met Sally, Lost in Translation.
Music: Bob Dylan, Amy Winehouse, Nina Simone, Blondie, Dixie Chicks.
All food, especially: roast chicken, proper pizza, steak, tomato ketchup, spinach, green things generally. Red wine. Sour cocktails.

The six things I could never do without

Tea
Conversation
Public lending libraries
Cheese
A glass of wine at about 7:45pm
Big wide open spaces every once in a while

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Why does tea taste so horrible when it's gone cold?

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I quite enjoy Gardeners' World, for the comfort factor. I also like Springwatch / Autumnwatch. I rarely miss an episode of Top Gear. I am clearly male, and quite old.

You're lovely.
