My self-summary
Please read the dang profile before messaging me! "Hi" is not a good opener!

Adore a good argument, have no shame in sharing enthusiasm with others, and have a tendency to sing very loudly at almost any moment. Pretty annoying for most people, but my macaw likes to sing along. Since I find that completely adorable, I don't bother trying to change. It has led to awkward moments at work...

I'm primarily trying to expand my tiny circle of friends, but since I'm not particularly likeable, and don't go places where strangers might meet... Well, it's a tough task.

A big fan of learning, skepticism, solitude, any snuggly animal, sci-fi, and general geekery.
What I’m doing with my life
When I'm not working, sleeping, or at rehearsal, I am playing with my budget plans, walking my darling old lady of a dog, practicing, or staring at the dishes in hopes they clean themselves.

Sometimes stage manage for local theater productions, fun times!

I. Love. Podcasts. Recommend me some!

Play tuba every chance I get, noodle around at learning piano, because why not?
I’m really good at
* remembering the melody, but not the lyrics
* quoting movies, TV, and Mitch Hedberg
* spouting trivia
* laughing too loudly
* empathy
* demonstrating "too much" forcefulness of opinion. Do please dissent, lively debates are good. The worst thing you can do is smile and nod when you think I'm wrong... When I find out that I am wrong, I will interpret it as you thinking I am not worth the effort of helping.
The first things people usually notice about me
Excellent posture.

Chances are if I meet your eyes, I smile. I think it might be a tic at this point, because it's the same smile no matter what I'm thinking or feeling.

If I don't "get it" and can't Google to find "it" out, I will ask.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The Wheel of Time-- it is flawed and beautiful, and I re-listen to it every year.
Star Trek -- in the middle of watching the whole series in story chronological order. Status: TNG 7/ DS9 2.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Fringe!
Battlestar Galactica minus the last two episodes
Camille Saint-Saens Symphony No. 3
Ol' Man River as sung by Paul Robeson

All ensemble pieces with good tuba parts. ALL

Food is delicious so long as it doesn't contain coconut or banana.
The six things I could never do without
Solitude
my tuba
Information
a non-human animal that loves me
Google
Hearing
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything. Why there is so much to learn and I waste so much of the time NOT learning.

How to finish my degree.

How come I can't sing bass, alas.

Ways to possibly make friends, why it is I lost so many
On a typical Friday night I am
Practicing something, cleaning house, or working on goals while streaming podcasts/Amazon Prime/Netflix.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am very afraid of serving as a page turner for pianists, despite knowing how to read music and turn pages.

I go out of my way to avoid taking left turns. I try doing Blue Steel or Magnum to boost my confidence, but it does not help.
You should message me if
I have no idea. I pretty much have given up on finding companions and accept that I will spend most of my life alone. I have my dog, my bird, my home, and my tubas, seems like a pretty okay gig.

You should not message me with one brief sentence that has obviously been sent to every female you've seen on OKC. Read my damned profile, jagweed!
