I am humanist, geeky, and hopeless.
My Self-Summary
I'm new to the area (new to the country) and exploring all the
wonderful things it has to offer. I just finished school at
Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and am excited to start
a more serious career here in California.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to make the world a more interesting, if not better place.
Improve my English and Spanish. Start a careering research instead
of making pretty for cameras. I also have the travel bug. I've been
to 85 countries and am trying to make it to 100 before I turn 30.
Travel bridges gaps in culture, understanding and education; it is
the great equalizer. If it weren't for the ecological impact, I'd
make everyone visit 3rd world countries or live in another culture
for a while. I think it'd make the world a better place.
I’m really good at
Talking to computers and brains,
alpine touring, climbing,
camping, biking, sailing, traveling, language, politics, driving,
helping animals,
photography, fashion, and my vices:
beer and chocolate.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Music: I love american classic rock, early british rock, silly
synth pop, dark moody alternative, american jazz and blues, classic
and modern punk (even if the two genres disavow one anothers
merrits), german grunge, romatic period classical, even some reggae
and original rap. I love to dance to european techno and the
occasional
modern ballet.
Books: Dostoyevsky, The Idiot. Anything by Kurt Vonnegut.
Noam Chomsky.
Political and Travel biographies. I'm a voracious audio book reader
and try to stick to non-fiction these days but I'll always love the
postmodernist greats.
Food: California is perhaps the most wonderful place in the world
to be a
vegetarian! I love to eat. Roll your
eyes but a great dark, fair trade chocolate will make me swoon as
will a good single malt scotch.
TV: I can't really get in to American prime time television except
for the Simpsons but I get my news from the
Daily Show (sad huh?). I like BBC
shows like Coupling and
Top Gear but I don't spend much time
watching; I don't even own a TV.
On a typical Friday night I am
Studying, reading, dancing, eating, calling home.
You should message me if
Fun people, political people, geeks, hippies, artists, musicians,
lovers of life.
Please understand I approach my inbox with the embarrassment of
riches. I'm in the strange position of turning away perfectly
lovely men because I can't meet you all, although I'm trying.
That said, I do look forward to hearing from you if you know who
you are, you're good at parallel parking, you have at least a vague
acquaintance with grammar, you know the band, and/or you give a
good ... alibi.
