I am funny, serious, and ambitious.

My Self-Summary

Oddly, I am rarely at a loss for words, but somehow never know quite what to say when asked to describe myself. So, I'll try to just give the facts. I am a relatively well established guy who is just kind of looking around on here to see what happens. The unfortunate fact is that as I've gotten older most of my friends have moved away, and as a young professional it is very difficult to build new social relationships. Therefore, I thought I'd turn to the Internet to see if it can help. I'm not necessarily looking for anything in particular at the moment - just looking to make new friends, and to see where those friendships may lead.

What I’m doing with my life

Currently, I work in Information Technology at a local University (bet you can't figure out which one). I don't necessarily want to do that forever, and am trying to start working on my MBA and maybe attempt law school. Hopefully, one day I'll start my own businesses. The idea of joining the political world has always been strangely appealing to me, and I've thought about attempting to run for office later in life on more than one occasion. I think it's important to be actively involved in social dialog. We live in a fundamentally democratic society. It is our responsibility to make our voices heard, and I'd love doing that one day.

I’m really good at

Generally, I'm a pretty decent listener. Having had mostly female friends I tend to be well practiced at it. I suppose I'm pretty good at a number of things, as I tend to be the best I can be at anything I attempt. I tend to think I'm pretty good at being flexible, and can adapt to new things and situations fairly well. Some of the hobbies I enjoy working at are: dancing, exercising, golf, guitar, video games, photography, and alot of other things that I'll add as I think of them. :)

Friends tell me that I'm pretty good at photography, enough so that I've been encouraged by multiple friends on multiple occasions to ditch the job and start a photography business.

The first things people usually notice about me

Often when meeting me, the first thing you will notice is the Canon 5D that is ordinarily attached to my face. I take my photography seriously, and often hide behind walls of photographic equipment at parties. :)

Otherwise, you'll notice that I'm generally pretty quiet at first. I tend to have an introspective personality, and therefore tend to work out things internally in my head before saying much. I'm also rather private at first, and don't tend to divulge much about myself. Once I warm up to people - those walls do tend to come down. Unfortunately, while they're up I tend to seem somewhat aloof. It's not intentional though.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I have pretty varied tastes in all things. It's really difficult for me to pick favorite music as I you can find just about anything from classical to hip-hop on my playlist.

Movies, I tend to like action movies with a preference given to movies with a military theme. I also like legal thrillers. A few examples are Braveheart, A Few Good Men, Gladiator, Patton, and The Hunt for Red October. Of course, there are plenty more where those come from.

Books, I mostly read nonfiction. When I do read fiction, I like heavy fiction with socio-political and philosophical overtones. As to a favorite, all I have to ask is, "Who is John Galt?"

The six things I could never do without

I'm not sure there are that many things that I can't live without. I think I could do without just about anything except for my camera and a computer to edit pictures with. :)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Aside from work, I tend to spend alot of time thinking about the future - what it may hold and where it may take me. I find myself contemplating relationships alot and reflecting upon life in general. I probably tend to think too much about too many things.

On a typical Friday night I am

It varies. I could be working late, I could be chilling with friends, I could be out and about, or I could just be relaxing at home. I like a little variety.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I love large, white fluffy dogs. I've determined that Samoyeds are the optimal breed for me as they're large dogs, but not huge dogs. Later in life I want two Samoyeds one named "Liberty" and another named "Belle." I'd also love to have a Newfoundland one day when I have sufficient room. I think a Newfoundland and a pool party would be alot of fun. :)

You should message me if

If you're a relatively interesting person and you think I'm a relatively interesting person, then by all means message me. I'm not looking for anything in particular, and would be just as happy to meet new guys to just hang out with as I would new girls to take out. I'd particularly like to meet other people interested in photography, as I love going out with other people and just shooting.

Basically, I'm open to anything. I'm mostly looking for friends, but I won't discount the possibility that maybe something more could happen.
