My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
On the surface, I seem ordinary, but once you get to know me, you'll find me surprising. At first glance, I might seem quiet, but once we start talking, I can have a lot to say. I'm interested in all sorts of things: books, movies, music, travel, current events.
I do tend to be a workaholic, and I'm trying to break the habit. I'd really like to meet people I don't work with, as currently all my friends are also co-workers. But work is taking up a big part of my life.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I teach writing at an area university.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
teaching and writing
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I was recently told that the qualities people see in me are insight, dedication, executive skills and communication skills. Of course, that person was talking about my professional self.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

My all-time favorite movie is the first Matrix film. I've become hooked on Japanese animation, which generally amuses people since I don't fit the stereotype. My music collection is fairly varied, but American roots music and celtic folk music are a fairly sizable portion.
When it comes to television, I can be pretty geeky. I've been a Doctor Who fan since the '80s. I went through an anime period a few years ago. I look for great stories and great characters. Currently, Mad Men is my can't-miss television.
It's hard for me to pin down favorite books, though I suppose Jane Austen's Persuasion is one of the top five. It's about a couple who meet again 8 years after breaking off their engagement.
I've become hooked on Food Network. I'm not a great cook, though I do quite enjoy baking. I would love to take cooking classes.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
In no particular order: something to read, a hot bath, an Internet connection, my car, the ability to think, and flannel sheets
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I spend too much time thinking about work. I also tend to day dream a bit. I think about writing fiction again, but I just haven't had the time to devote to it. In fact, I suspect I spend most of my time thinking about time in one way or another.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Home watching TV. I'm not a "go out and hit the bars" kind of girl.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've been putting online dating off for a very long time because I've been intimidated by it.
