I am candid, creative, and passionate.

My Self-Summary

I'm never a dull moment, that's for sure . . . excitable and even volatile at times . . . tamable to an extent though, if you're up to the challenge ;)

Currently, I live in the 'burbs and make my way to the city every other weekend or so. I'll be moving to metro-accessible Alexandria in June.

*Scoping for a roommate!*
Must be: very clean (I don't care quite as much about tidiness), interested in hosting intimate dinner parties rather than drinking parties, and steadily employed. Lovers of indie rock, jazz, art film, and edgy interior design preferred.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm pursuing a low-residency MFA in writing, on a dual-genre track - similar to a double major, in poetry and fiction. My current faculty adviser is encouraging my efforts in illustration (photography, mixed media, whatever strikes me as best suited to the words at hand) as well. The degree will take two and a half years to complete. Although I enjoy literature for art and entertainment's sake, I'm somewhat serious about my goals to eventually effect positive change. In subtle ways . . . I might be wrapped in the cocoon for a fair stretch.

And since I don't care to be a starving artist, I work full-time as a Business Development Analyst. Typical 9 to 5 setup.

A recent development: I devote a fair amount of time to starting two bands. One is indie rock, and the other is indie rock & hip hop fusion. I sing and write lyrics for both of these efforts.

. . . Obviously I don't sleep much.

I’m really good at

Writing poems, enjoying moments, being honest, and sleeping on friends' couches until I get a place of my own in the city.

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm half-Korean. I'm also told that the way I speak is highly engaging. (Though I should probably mention here, I don't speak Korean.)

During the last several weekends I spent in DC, a deluge of random men and women kept telling me I'm beautiful. In bookstores, in line at Firehook Bakery, at Soho, etc. One guy even started singing about it. Kinda weird.

People seem divided as to whether I look naive or vampish. The underlying reality ricochets between the two.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books . . . lost generation novels, White Noise, poetry.

Movies . . . Closer, indie flicks like Paris Je T'aime and Venus, anything by Woody Allen or starring Edward Norton.

Music . . . EVERYTHING except country. Music videos, a la "Elephant Gun" by Beirut, are my guilty pleasure. Recently discovered Beats Antique, the new favorite.

Food . . . I love a man or a lady who can cook. I can't. Except breakfast, I make a thoroughly delectable southern-style breakfast. And here's another guilty admittance: I'm impressed by those who can pair the perfect wine to their meals. Though I'm not pretentious about it, nor do I claim to know much; it simply rounds out the dining experience.

The six things I could never do without

Music, wine, poetry, coffee, tea, and sex.

Not necessarily in that order.

Seriously, though, what kind of field is this?

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Literature, globalization as it affects social culture, the evils and joys of materialism, silk chemises, hope, the stories behind antiques, etc. So many things, but conversation is more engaging than a list, obviously.

On a typical Friday night I am

Out with friends for wine and appetizers, or on a long walk alone.

And, more recently, diving into MFA assignments . . . picture me: tossing books on the bed, filling a fountain pen and a mug of Lady Grey tea, then reciting and scribbling all night. If this superficial peek into the life of a literature nerd gets you going, we might have potential.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I used to go back and forth, but lately I most often prefer to be held after sex.

Sometimes I'll get through an entire day without touching any food except pumpkin pie and milk.

My brother is at college in Raleigh, and I miss him terribly even though we talk daily and we're working on a music project together.

I'm mostly an open book . . . ask away!

You should message me if

You get bored with most girls. I'll probably prove to be something different. Though be forewarned, 'tis not an easy task to catch my fancy.

I don't want to ever feel settled in life; every single day must feel fresh and compelling. I'm spontaneous, open-minded, and motivated. Seeking those who identify with all this!

Also here's a list of self-screening questions, please be honest with yourself and don't contact me if:

- You're just going to tell me I'm beautiful. I appreciate it, but if you don't have anything else to say for yourself from the get-go then I won't respond.
- You would try to discuss something like your mortgage on a first, second, or third outing. I'm not an entirely mature 23-year-old, and I do get bored easily.
- You're not in decent shape.
- Literature bores you.
- You lied about your height on your profile. Or lied about anything else for that matter, though height seems to be the field that most often suffers from exaggeration on this site.
- Also, don't bother to "wink." I won't reply unless I receive an actual message.
