My Self-Summary
Before you go too far, just want to let you know that I'm seeing someone right now. However, I am always on the lookout for new friends, both guys and gals, with common interests and outlooks on life. Now back to your regularly scheduled profile...

I will make this world a better place with my actions. Dance, math, & psychology will always be a part of my life. I believe in living a life that makes you happy while still making conscious, informed decisions about your future. I love children, waterfalls, and an open dance floor. I am always learning, always looking for more and new information & opportunities. I love to understand!

Life is a journey, and I have only just begun. :-)

You might be for me if...

1) You are extremely intelligent - preferably in the math/science/logic/computers/ problem-solving smart way. You love learning and pondering new ideas and concepts. The mind and the brain fascinate you!

2) You have an artistic / creative passion (or several), aka you play an instrument or sing or act or dance or draw or paint or sculpt or write or build or photograph or design or ...

3) You eat healthy and exercise (most of the time!). You're interested in longevity & transhumanism and how what we eat and do affects our brains and our lives. You don't smoke or do drugs, and you drink only in moderation. Bonus points if you can do cool stuff with your body - like dancing, yoga, martial arts, gymnastics, circus arts, parkour, etc.

4) You're not into organized religion, whether you are atheist or agnostic or pantheist or spiritual or ... Yet you are moral, generous, and tolerant.

5) You're not into "keeping up with the Joneses", but you do have and spend money on things that make you happy. In other words, you would be just as happy vacationing by living in a van on Maui for a week as you would be going to Vegas and seeing cirque shows.

6) You're ambitious and want to make a difference in the world. You have a job/business (or several) that you love, or you're working towards that. You like helping people.

7) You would rather read a book or discuss ideas or surf the internet than watch TV. But you do enjoy movies (and a few TV shows, like Firefly!). And you do like the occasional video game and/or computer game, but you're not going on raids three nights a week.

8) You're a Burner (past, present, future, or just at heart), yet you can pass yourself off as 'normal' in everyday life.

9) Last but definitely not least, there's the all important, all elusive 'spark' - you could be all of the above, but we might not click. Or you could only be a few, and we might have a really strong connection (although if you aren't a majority of the above, the relationship probably won't go anywhere.)

I am unique, autodidactic, and multifaceted

What I’m doing with my life
I just bought a store & educational center in San Fernando Valley - so I'm really busy being entrepreneurial. Trying to find balance in my life though taking dance, acroyoga, & cirque classes; hanging out with friends; reading math textbooks; etc.

In the past, I've taught high school math & science, nannied, run a charter elementary school, owned a dance store, taught ballet & jazz, wrote high school curriculum, and worked various other random jobs.

I got my BA in Cognitive Science from UCSD, after realizing at Caltech that as much as I love math and science and programming, I don't want to do it all the time. But yet if I go very long without it in my life, I get very sad!

I’m really good at
-reading quickly and learning new things quickly. Oh and I'm also extremely good at adding more books to my huge collection! :-)

-customer service. I'm really weird in that I actually like working retail and helping people! And doing bookkeeping...

-standardized tests. And I kinda enjoy taking them!

-procrastinating... and perendinating...

My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books... I read mostly non-fiction. I am an information junkie! I have lots of various interests, and I want to know all about them! Mostly books about cogsci, math, computer science, education, linguistics, etc. When I do read fiction, it's usually sci-fi (Ender's Game, etc).

Movies... The Matrix, Serenity, Princess Bride, Shawshank Redemption, Bourne series, Ocean's Eleven, Fifth Element, Strictly Ballroom, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jurassic Park, Contact, Gattaca, Dave, Equilibrium, Titanic

TV... Firefly, Dharma & Greg, Buffy, So You Think You Can Dance (I don't actually own a TV, but I watch series on DVD sometimes.)

Music... I have very diverse music interests, ranging from classical to Perfect Circle to Britney! Lala.com is my new favorite website!

Food... I like all sorts of ethnic food (Thai, Indian, Greek, etc). I eat mostly healthy, but I do have my weak moments. I'm interested in paleo, CRON, raw foods, and intermittent fasting, although I don't practice any of them consistently at the moment. My eating habits are mostly real foods and low grains with added protein (shakes/bars).

On a typical Friday night I am
home learning something new aka reading, surfing the internet, watching TED talks, etc. Or maybe out at a restaurant with friends. Or going blues dancing. Or at an acroyoga jam. Or in San Diego or the Bay area visiting friends. Or contemplating the universe and its wonders.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
That the me you meet in a social setting is not the real me, or rather it's only a facet of me. You'll have to see me in lots of different settings to see more of my facets. For instance, my nerdy/geeky friends are really surprised when I start dancing! And my dancer friends have no idea that I like math problems and video games.

I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 25-42
  • Near me
  • For new friends, activity partners
You should message me if
You like pondering new ideas and possibilities.

I will admit that I do put a fair amount of trust in the okcupid percentage system - so if you're less than like 80% with me, do feel free to message me, but make sure you tell me why you think we'd get along, because it's probably not going to be obvious from your profile. Thanks!
