My self-summary
Short disagreeable man with shapely beard and tight gut, listens to gangster rap and doom metal. Has soft spot for anything golden girls and 95-2005 pop punk as well as lady pop. Complicated relationship with cats. Has not used shampoo in almost two years.

Working as a teacher of middle and high school in a juvenile hall.
What I’m doing with my life
Edit: currently teaching in the juvenile hall. I teach in south monterey county, mostly working with heavily affiliated gang members and students who are what would classically be called high or at risk youth.
I am also currently applying to PhD programs to study the criminalization of traumatized youth in public ed. Hoping to come up with some better solutions than incarceration cause jails and prisons are fucking awful.

I’m really good at
making playlists, challenge me!
The first things people usually notice about me
my eyes
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Atwood, Octavia Butler, Neil Gaimen, Gibson, Weird sci-fi about the dangers of the Singularity, lots of radical theory

Movies: the fountain, office space, the big lebowski

Music: electro, dubstep, punk, metal, doom metal, stoner metal, bluegrass, old country, any of the various incarnations of psychedelia available at any given time
The six things I could never do without
water, good conversation, books, music, tattoo, piercings(since the last two don't technically leave me)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the world and how to change it, my students, how to avoid the coming singularity on a personal level, buying land with chill folks in pnw, why is doom/stoner metal so heavy and good?
On a typical Friday night I am
hanging out with friends
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
i worked at the owls nest in kresge on ucsc campus for five years, i still get called owls nest dude...
