My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
So I'm working my way through my profile, redoing it. I finally feel like I know myself, and what I want, and I'm good with that.

I'm a smart, techie + sales guy into the cocktails and liquor industry as my "second job" (and as my first job when I was laid off this summer). I love to cook. I'm constantly reading (my Kindle is always on me) and trying to write more. I'm looking for someone who wants a partner to go do stuff and to stay at home and hang out. Someone who likes to chat randomly through the day but is willing to work on the scheduling for the evenings. I'm tired of dating games.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
After two months laid off this summer (which was the best thing that could've happened to me, to be honest) I'm getting back into the groove with a great new job with a government contractor in Bethesda. I am also trying to get back into more of the cocktail blog and figure out if I can sneak bartending back into my life at some point.

Also with the new job I have the new fun of trying to work on rescheduling my workout routine and get my eating habits back in better shape, but it's coming right along.

I also volunteer at least once a month as a clinic escort so if you're anti-choice, it ain't gonna work out.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Writing. I write a lot, even if it's not all for the blog (which I need to update more often) or for work (which can really drain the creativity but can also be fun). I love to write. I don't even mind being edited - I think it makes my writing better - and I love to have people give me feedback on my writing.

Reading (uhhhh). I read a minimum of 2-3 novels a week. I almost always have my Kindle on me (or a paperback).

Cooking. I'm trying to experiment more regularly and love inflicting my food on others!

Drinking good (and bad) stuff, smoking the occasional cigar and then writing about it. Well, I could just say "drinking" but that might give the wrong impression. Still, my blog is about booze and sometimes about cigars, so, yeah.

My new job. I didn't realize how much my old job was physically, mentally, emotionally hurting me. I really like the new folks I'm working for and with, and if anything, it's teaching me to be more aggressive about my own career.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Awesomeness.

Okay, I'd say usually my sense of humor. Or just what I look like, isn't that what people notice first? It's hard for me to say "they look at this first" because I don't know what people look at first. I can guess?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
If I listed all my books, you'd be here all day - my shelves are crammed with books, and I love my Kindle. Most of them are sci-fi, but I have a lot of technical, history, cooking, and cocktail books. I'm trying to branch out more in more in my reading, but reading is kind of my "comfort food" and I love having something fun to read.

I love bad action movies. I tend towards action movies in general, though I have all kinds - Amelie is a favorite because it's just so fun. I don't really care for horror movies (though I do not consider most zombie movies horror).

I listen to all kinds of music - from GWAR to classical to modern pop. My music will jump from heavy metal to Ke$ha and Lady Gaga to classical to rap.

I canceled cable, so mostly what I watch is off Netflix or such. So Bojack Horseman, Archer, Parks & Rec, Kimmy Schmidt, House of Cards, stuff like that, plus sports as needed. I'm trying to pick out an EPL team to root for.

I love both good and "good" bad food. I eat fast food (probably too often) but I also love really good food. I want to be willing to try anything at least once. I am dying for the day I can have my own pig roast, and have dibs on various parts of the head.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Good drinks - beer ranging from Miller Lite & High Life to Rodenbach Grand Cru and Bell's. Liquor from single barrel whiskeys to Fernet Branca to Del Maguey mezcals to Jeppson's Malort.

My favorite books - gotta have reading materials. Neal Stephenson, Ian M. Banks, John Scalzi, so many more...

Decent cigars - Padrons, La Gloria Cubana, CAO, Rocky Patel

Internet access - I don't care to talk on the phone much but MUST BE ONLINE GAHHHHHHH

Travel - sometimes I just need to drive or ride. Maybe just around the Beltway, maybe to another state...just get out and go somewhere.

My friends - I like to be alone sometimes, but I need other people to keep me grounded. Nowadays that also means my new niece, and borrowing my brother's dog to go hiking.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My life in the future. Things are going very well for me - what can I do to keep that going? Or to make it go even better?

What book(s) I should write. I have lots of ideas, what should I pursue?

How to make my friends happier. Honestly, the happier my friends are, the happier I am.

What makes that noise from ART buses that makes them sound like they're a Transformer?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Lately it's been working out, then making a big dinner and watching TV. EXCITING, I KNOW. Though occasionally it's hitting up a bar right at 5 o'clock...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have no filter - I'll talk about anything, so really, there's not a whole lot of "private things" for me.

You're looking for something serious, not a one night stand. I am not against one night stands, but at the minimum I want our mutual goals to be in check for what we're looking for in a relationship.
