I am nerdy, sarcastic, and easygoing.

My Self-Summary

I chose my username because "Seas the Day" was the name of my good friend's sailboat. The cheesy pun aside, it represents how she lived her life and how I try to live mine. I try to make time for the important things in life--spending time with friends, traveling, learning new things, and most importantly laughing.

What I’m doing with my life

I recently abandoned my quest for the elusive PhD in English and left my graduate program to do something I truly love--become a union organizer. I help workers in higher education organize to form unions and win contracts that will enable them to support themselves while they do what they love. I'm passionate about what I'm doing and excited to be starting a new career path.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Far too many to mention, but a few that have truly moved me are The Last Temptation of Christ, Letters to a young Poet, The Sound and the Fury, and GUT Symmetries. I love anything by Nick Hornby, and I'm currently reading a lot of graphic novels.

Movies: I love documentaries, but after a long day I usually watch Dodgeball or Office Space to help me unwind. My Top 5 favorites from last year are The Wrestler, Slumdog Millionaire, The Visitor, In Bruges, and Let the Right One In.

Music: Eclectic would be an understatement. I grew up listening to Jimmy Buffett, thanks to my parents, and am still a big Parrothead. Other long-time favorites are Ani DiFranco, Bad Religion, and Cowboy Mouth.

Food: I don't want to live anywhere lacking good seafood and/or sushi.

The six things I could never do without

Laughter. Everything else is expendable.

But as far as material things go, I wouldn't want to do without: my iPod, books, movies, tv/dvd player, camera, and passport.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Places I'd like to visit and/or live someday.

On a typical Friday night I am

Home watching a movie, at a bar watching a friend's band or just hanging out with friends.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I can't really think of anything I wouldn't be willing to admit here, so I guess if you want to know, just ask.

You should message me if

You appreciate sarcasm, want to go see a movie sometime, enjoy solving logic problems/sudoku/crosswords or doing puzzles, like soccer, want a travel buddy, are a SCUBA diver, own a sailboat, or if you're just bored and/or procrastinating, I guess.
