Why don't I have more time in my life?
Apr 27, 2011
"Wow. You’ve answered (or skipped) every active question in our
database. That means you’re pretty hardcore about this site. Now go
review your
questions and browse others’ profiles! Put those answers to
work!"
Oops. That would be why.
To all the people of OKCupid.

Please post pictures of your interests, whether or not you are included in the pictures. Likewise, if your children are important to you, I think it's a fair decision on your part to include them in your photos. I'd like to see photos of your tattoos, even if they're close-ups. Bonus points if it's a tramp stamp. If you want to, take a photo in the bathroom mirror--it doesn't bother me one way or another. The angle of your head does not matter to me. You can smile, or bed sad or stoic in your photos--I know that people have a variety of emotions. If you're of an artistic bent, feel free to play around editing your photos. I appreciate photos where you're not wearing a shirt. Regardless of your body type, I certainly don't mind seeing nudes, flagmod be damned.
Anything less would be inappropriate. Thank you.
Off to Oregon Country Fair!

Hope to see some of you there!--whether I know you already or not.
What are the odds?
May 12, 2010
There's been a lot of chatter recently about Diaspora (http://joindiaspora.com/), a vaporware product which hopes to replace services like Facebook and Google Buzz. I'm excited about the possibilities, and I think they're taking the right approach--but I see a couple of major obstacles to overcome. One, critical mass. People use Facebook, because everyone else uses Facebook. How do you break that cycle? Two, security. How are millions of uneducated users going to manage a distributed service without compromising security? Potentially, people could undermine their own security more than by using Facebook's software. I think there's potential solutions, but those strike me as the major issues which need to be addressed (aside from all the development work!).
I assume it's obvious why MySpace/Facebook/Buzz need to be replaced. Would you use Diaspora instead? Would critical mass be your major issue, or the trouble of running your own software? Something else?
If you're bored in Seattle tonight...

...come to Honkfest in Georgetown. Officially runs from 6-10 p.m. Bring shoes for stomping and dancing. If your socks ain't rocked off, I'll buy you a drink. Plus it's free!
Oooh! When did the "Add an explanation" appear?
Mar 19, 2010
I'm delighted to see "Add an explanation" next to questions now. When did this slip in?--I only just now noticed it. The downside is I've got a lot of questions to mark!--guess I'll just add explanations as they come up as issues.
As a lazy person who loves food...

...I can't immediately think of anything I enjoy cooking, more than stew. The things I enjoy cooking most are at once yummy, require very little preparation time (cooking time is like a rewarding investment), and are open to improvisation. In the wintertime, this means stew.
The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band...

...is playing tonight at El Corazon. If you can appreciate some rockstomping folk guitar, backed up by washboard and pickle bucket, come on down. I'll be there with a few of my drinking associates. For any Webley fans out there, Reverend Peyton was the collaborator on Two Bottles of Wine.
A new hope.

I need something to look forward to now that I've seen Imaginarium. Sacrilegious remakes aren't usually my thing, but...True Grit, starring...Jeff Bridges? Yes, that'll do.
Thank you, Staff Robot.

"I think you both like sex." I don't know what I'd do without your sagacious observations.
