Your Notes

I am silly, sarcastic, smart, and quad-adjectived.

My Self-Summary

Do you enjoy having the most bizarre and random of conversations? Say, building a tunnel through the center of the earth? (Turns out you need some super-strong material, and to seal the thing in vacuum). Plans for world domination? (I'll show you mine if you show me yours). If you often get drawn into conversations like that we'll probably get along famously.

What I’m doing with my life

I work for OkCupid! I'm the CTO.

I enjoy playing pool, and even used to play in a league for a few seasons, and am thinking about finding a new team to get back in to that. I also got my SCUBA certification a couple of summers ago.

I’m really good at

Coming up with bad puns and wise-ass responses to questions like the ones here.

The first things people usually notice about me

Notice? I'm a member of an elite ninja clan, lurking in the shadows, moving unseen. Any thing you think you see is simply your mind playing tricks on you.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

  1. I tend to alternate between Sci-Fi/Fantasy and non-Fiction. Favorite authors include Terry Pratchett (I once bought 34 books of the discworld series in on Amazon.com order), Isaac Asimov, Neal Stephenson, Douglas Adams (the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is required reading for anyone dating me).
  2. I like movies and shows that have well developed characters, and are clever in some way. Favorite movies include The Godfather, Ocean's Eleven, Office Space. Favorite shows: The Wire, The Office, Futurama, Firefly.
  3. Anything from Classical to Rock really. Right now, I have the 1940-style tracks from the video game Fallout 3 stuck in my head.
  4. I'll try anything once, really. Current favorites include Ethiopian, sushi, pad thai, and an assortment of Indian food, many of which you've probably never heard of. Can I cook some of those for you, you ask? Well unfortunately the kitchen in my studio is too tiny to do much real cooking. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.

The six things I could never do without

The Internet, social contact, my favorite bars where many of said social contact occurs, sources of humor and laughter, free time, a spare spot on this list (for emergencies)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Why, you, of course!

On a typical Friday night I am

A member of the species Homo sapiens. Come to think of it, that part has never changed even though I've had some pretty atypical Friday nights.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

An alarmingly large fraction of girls I've dated have been from OkCupid, or friends of girls I've met on OkCupid. This is both before and after I started working here.

You should message me if

Your profile contains zero or fewer of these clichés: "I'm too complex to be summarized in a little box", "I could never do without food, water, air...", "If I admitted it here it wouldn't be private".

Note: You should especially not message me to complain about problems in the site. Those should go here. We don't have the resources to respond to every e-mail (we are a free site after all), but do read every single one.
