I am epicurious, musically inclined, and seeking nirvana.

My Self-Summary

What about me? If you are reading this, do you really care to know? I'm sarcastic, occasionally witty, sometimes an attention seeker, and I know exactly what I want from my life. I share strong ties with my friends, and I hope to learn something from each individual I meet. My interests vary so much that I have more than enough hobbies to keep me busy until my golden years, which means that I would definitely have something in common with you....to what extent....we'll never know unless you take a chance

What I’m doing with my life

I ask myself this question everyday...yet, I have no answer...perhaps I should stop talking to myself. Sometimes, I ponder the tectonic shifting near the Anatolian fault or perplex about meso-scale porosity and how that can be scaled upwards to accommodate a much larger radius of reservoir and occasionally I like to create a lot of run-on sentences....bwahaaahaaaa!

I’m really good at

Reading people and alternatively getting stuck in conversations with complete strangers that want to reveal their most personal secrets. So, it's a win/lose situation. Cooking is a definite yes...though I have unusually small hands, I am quite dexterous with a knife and can create a finely chopped mirepoix in mere minutes (this should serve as a warning to all potentially non-worthy suitors, I'm quick and nimble with sharp objects). Singing...ask anyone in my 'burb.

Editors

The first things people usually notice about me

1. My voice because I am probably singing somewhere...a mild character flaw...attention seeking...but hey, doesn't everyone do it?
2. My hair...maybe it's the color...or quite possibly, I just live in a small town

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Current fav. authors: neil gaiman, joe r. landsdale, sarah vowell, jon ronson, philip roth, milan kundera, john steinbeck, isaac asimov, umberto eco, edgar allan poe, henry james, d.h. lawrence, thomas pynchon, h.g. wells, jane austen, perhaps I should stop now
Current fav. movies: High Fidelity, Blazing Saddles, The Holy Grail, Tampopo, Amelie, A Patch of Blue, Bubba Ho-Tep, Donnie Darko, Best in Show, Serenity (admittedly, I'm obsessed with Joss Whedon), Office Space, The Goonies, Dark City, Shop Girl, Dream for an Insomniac, Cold Comfort Farm, Big Night, LOTR, The Exorcist (I'm a bit obsessed with this film), The Long, Hot Summer, Girl Happy (perhaps you should simply ask about this precious piece of cinema)
Music: (this list is endless) radiohead, man or astroman, sleater-kinney, otis redding, cibo matto, modest mouse, heartless bastards, some girls, melissa etheridge, parliament, soul coughing, sam cooke, james brown, brooklyn funk essentials, led zeppelin, morphine, jon spencer (and with his beloved blues explosion), boss hog, iron and wine, the reverend horton heat, bjork, billie holiday, aretha franklin, tori amos, tom waits, elmore james, big bad mamma thorton, muddy waters, elvis presley, beth orton, jennifer daniels, son volt, peter bruntnell, uncle tupelo, wilco, the bottle rockets, neko case, the man in black aka johnny cash, hank williams, patsy cline, gillian welch, john coltrane, nina simone, thelonius monk, beastie boys, the fugees, the urge, franz schubert, they might be giants, the violent femmes, nick drake, al green, the be good tanyas, ...ok I need to stop

The six things I could never do without

-my LLBean irish cap (found on a fence opposite the Chemistry Building on the IU Bloomington campus) I am forever grateful to the individual who decided to part with this cap.

-blue mechanical pencil I've had since undergraduate

-Origins' Ginger lotion

-M*A*C lustreglass

-my crazy ginger furball because he's my extra heater (though technically he is not a thing but a cat)

-my set of AllClad MC2 pans that is sadly missing a large stock pot..so, if anyone wants to part with theirs, please let me know

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Things I would like to learn about, places that I want to travel, art that I would like to create or be exposed to...maybe I think too much? For example, I've been working on this R&B song for about 6 months, and I still can't get the lyrics right. Other examples, how can I make my personal space more liveable, should I go back and get my PhD, why is there major tectonic activity occurring in the Gulf of Mexico, how would pumpkin ice cream taste, why does gravity seem more important to me when I'm hiking down a hill instead of up, why does the word 'soulmate' give me the heebee jeebes, why do spider monkeys or all species of monkey scare me more than any great ape, why do people with IQ's lower than chimpanzees even bother to contact me...ok...this is why I have insomnia

On a typical Friday night I am

I am at one of the local establishments listening to live music...sometimes it's great live music and sometimes...well...I probably should have stayed home. I did catch this act from NY...Sirsy...great vocalist...she inspired me...and gave me tingles (who doesn't like tingles?). I'm currently digging on Megan Jean's sounds too

Getting engaged to 70schild.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm quite affectionate, and I think people in general should hug more and bitch less. When possible, I try to hug someone everyday...ok...at first it seems creepy...but, I'm a girl...and they get over it pretty damn quickly
