I am Christian, Caring, and Affectionate.
My Self-Summary
Wow, these are always hard for me... I'd like to think that who I
am is defined mostly by my faith in Christ and my very imperfect
attempts to be like him. I try to really live my
Christian faith, but struggle
with it daily.
Like most men who have made it to my age of 52, I have experienced
many things in my life that have shaped me and hopefully have built
character in me. There have been times when I have been very
successful
financially and those times when I didn't know how I would meet my
obligations. I've experienced great joy--like the births of my
three kids, when I was
sailing on a summer day, and when I have
been deeply in love. And there has been great sorrow-- divorce,
being away from my kids & losing my Dad to cancer. Through all
of it I was learning many lessons about what was really important
in life, slowly understanding and growing.
Then in February 2008, I nearly died of a heart attack at age 50.
Emergency surgery saved my life... and changed it forever. My
priorities changed as I realized that the reason God put all of us
here is for one reason-- relationships! He wants us to learn how to
love him and how to love one another. Now, that is my goal... not
accumulating things or letting the quest for money drive my
decisions, but rather, seeking the will of God for my life and
being open to following his leading. I have learned that there is
tremendous peace in placing my total trust and dependence on God.
He is a lot better at providing for me than I ever was!
Now, if you have read this far, you either think I'm a very strange
guy, a fanatic (I'm not) or maybe a
real guy who is just being
honest here. I hope you're finding
that is refreshing when most men just say what they think women
want to hear. I also want you to know that I'm
fun,
spontaneous,
humorous, and very
affectionate. I enjoy old
fashioned things like
holding hands,
snuggling together,
kissing, and opening doors
for you. I like being active and doing things but I also like just
being around each other. Sometimes, it is the little things that
matter most.... :-) If you contact me we can go from there. You
will find that there is a lot more to this man as you get to know
me!
What I’m doing with my life
The past 18 months I have been restoring and updating my sailboat
"Selah Way" a labor of love. In September I returned to college to
fulfill a life long dream of earning my USCG certified Captain's
license. It is a lot of fun... more like summer camp than college
for me :)
(But there is a lot more to it than I realized...)
I’m really good at
Sailing,
fixing
things, restoring and refinishing wood, loving and
learning.
I'm also pretty good at giving
massages! :)
A few others:
Salt Water
Fishing,
Golf,
Tennis,
Bike Riding,
Hiking,
Cooking,
Scuba,
Fitness,
Computers.
The first things people usually notice about me
Are that I'm tall...6'2", and that I am very approachable &
easy to get along with. I've been told I'm easy on the eyes too.
The funny thing is that several times I've been told I look like
Tom Selleck (when I have my thick mustache)! Obviously, they have
never met Tom in person... He is a friend of my Sister and
Brother-in-law and is about 6'7" and a lot better looking! But, it
is still flattering to be told that :)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I like reading of all kinds. I read the Bible daily and lately "The
Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren. I also enjoyed "The
Shack".
I enjoy all types of music except Rap. Most of the time I will be
listening to contemporary Christian music in the background on
K-Love. Other favorite artist include James Taylor, Alison Krauss,
Eagles, Rascal Flats, and a lot of other 70's era groups. Depending
on my mood it could also be country or classical.
My tastes in movies range from Science Fiction to Romantic
Comedies. I like some Action movies and Suspense. Yes, I will even
let you pick out a "Chick Flick" and we can share the Kleenex
together. :) I don't like Horror or really violent films. Also,
foul language in films will turn me off. I've gotten up and left
theaters more than once because the language was so bad.
As for food.. YUM! Favorites are Thai, Mexican, and even Indian
once in a while. Polish food is awesome. I'm more of a seafood
lover than beef. But, I enjoy "comfort foods" like meatloaf,
chicken, pot roast, stew, chile & homemade soups. I love good
red wines and it is fun to find them. I really enjoy cooking
(especially together) and BBQ in the summertime. If you like to
bake, then you had me at "Desert".
The six things I could never do without
1. God's mercy, grace, and love.
2. The love of my family and friends.
3. Being near the Ocean.
4. Starbuck's French Roast in the morning
5. Music in my life
6. The special woman that God has set apart just for me (You?)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How I depend upon God for everything in my life.
How grateful I am for all the blessings I have in my life.
My studies.
The upcoming projects to do on "Selah Way" (sailboat)
How I can help other people around me.
How nice it will be to have a mate to share it all with!
On a typical Friday night I am
There hasn't been a "Typical" Friday night for a long time, so it
is hard to say. I would hope a typical Friday night would be a time
to relax after a week of school. Maybe go out for a little dinner,
a beer and some live music with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Is that I'm really a soft hearted sensitive man, a deep thinker,
and someone who loves very deeply when I open up my heart...
You should message me if
I sound like the type of man you have been looking for. Let's get
to know one another, explore friendship and do some things
together. There are some fun places we can
travel to here in the NW within reach on
a weekend trip, or just come up to Astoria and we can
walk on the beach
or head over to Canon Beach or Seaside for some window shopping :)
Selah Way has a nice guest stateroom and is warm and cozy.
If there is chemistry, we'll both know what to do... :)
Write me... I don't bite! Want to know more? Just ask.
