My self-summary

What I’m doing with my life
I code for my dream company. I'm reading novels, studying comics, filling sketchbooks, stashing short stories and half-finished novels on Google docs, learning to cook, doing Crossfit and yoga, and visiting my apartment roof to feel alive.
I’m really good at
Finding the thing I'm worst at, and becoming good at it: so far it's worked for playing the ocarina, equestrianism, chemistry, physics, and calculating the tip.

I love playing with structure: interior design, web development, novel plots, comic panels, classroom lessons. However, I hate red tape, and things that get in the way of making things.

Baking/cooking: I inherited my mom's recipes for banana bread and chicken soup. I promise to use them only for good.

I like to make people feel appreciated. You are so cool.
The first things people usually notice about me
"Why do you have so many browser tabs open?"
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
BOOKS
Me Before You is one of the greatest books I ever read. I'd read Neil Gaiman and John Green just for their prose. Ender's Game was my childhood. Pablo Neruda. Chuck Palahniuk. Stephen King. Embarrassingly, I quite like Jim Butcher.

A reread of Calvin & Hobbes gets better each time.

Why don't you just look at my bookcase?

MOVIES
Big Fish • Groundhog Day • Star Trek • The Breakfast Club • Miyazaki • Toy Story 3 • Wreck-It Ralph • The King's Speech • Before Sunrise • The Room

TV
Breaking Bad • Veronica Mars • Doctor Who • Buffy

FOOD
Miso soup • chicken soup • steamed fish • burritos • chocolate. The shawarma place back home tastes like manna from heaven.
The six things I could never do without
1. Art: Everyone injects their own meaning to life. This is mine.
2. The smell of new books: I like it so much I put a bookcase in my apartment. Books are an entirely subjective experience, and the act of reading hold memories, too.
3. Long conversations over dinner: What would we be without friends?
4. The exponential curve modeling my self-improvement: I seriously would steal the lunch money of the person I used to be four years ago.
5. Sonder: It helps to see the bigger picture.
6. The fire to live after reading a letter by an acquaintance after his passing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I own a gigantic narwhal plushie.

And here's something you can't tell over the internet: I'm deaf. Ironically, being deaf has made me really, really good at actually listening.

You should message me if
You're open to growth and vulnerability. You're empathetic and aren't afraid of communication. You are kind. And if you read the previous sentences and thought, "I value that, too."

I would love to bake, cook, go on a walk through Central Park or random city streets, have a conversation over dinner, visit a zoo, visit a museum, or kick back and watch Netflix while swigging wine and scarfing down chocolate.

If you like terrible puns and poop jokes, I'm down with that shit.
