I'm a big geek (pun intended), and a bit of a nerd--the sort of person who, when faced with something he doesn't know, will often go look it up (though I have to wait until I get home, since I still have a dumb phone). As such, I'm possessed of quite a bit of seemingly random and often useless knowledge. Almost none of that involves recent pop culture, which means I get a lot of softball questions wrong in Trivial Pursuit. I've recently realized that I remember things best as stories, and can recall some information in quite a lot of detail.
I love to read, play video games, tabletop and boardgames. I also like to go hiking, camping, and otherwise exploring--by car or on foot, preferring the latter. I'd prefer walking across town, or even from one of Manhattan to the other to taking a train, bus, cab, or a drive, particularly on nice days, and snowy ones.
I love snow! Not just the beauty of it from inside a snug room (that's good, too!), but the stillness it can bring to the world and that particular crispness in the air.
I've done some traveling that has included 10 countries, and almost half of the States. Places I'd still like to go/things I'd still like to do: see the redwoods and many of the other sights of the Pacific Northwest, visit China and Japan, explore Western Europe (mostly to see castles and open countryside), and return to Northern Europe to spend more more time there than I have.
I can be a sarcastic ass sometimes, but I'm never a douchebag. This has been firmly established by several corroborating sources. And, no, they are not the same thing.
Also, I'm a nice guy, and a good person, being earnest (sometimes laughably so), honest and open, but that isn't to say that I'm JUST a nice guy, or a pushover. I may be a Boy Scout, but there's nothing in the Scout Law that says I can't be mischievous or wicked.
I'm irreverent, quixotic, intelligent, analytical, imaginative and kind.
