My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Ugh, the self-summary paragraph! What to say, what to say...I'm a pretty laid back, low key, happy individual. I like little fluffy things like kittens and dogs and caterpillars and kids. I can be pretty sarcastic sometimes, but usually at my own expense. In turn, I also really appreciate people who can laugh at themselves.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm going to school. Yes, still. My dream is to work at Channel 11 with Geoffrey Baer. So, it's probably kind of weird that I'm majoring in math. Hm, I might need to think on that a little...
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Fixing your computer!
Making biscuits.
Overusing commas, hyphens and dot dot dots in my writings.
Changing flat bike tires.
Finding the humor in almost all situations, especially flat bike tires.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My voice. In my head I think I sound like Kathleen Turner, but in reality it's more like Elmo.
I smile a lot. I'm friendly. I hope people notice those traits.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
My fav, fav, books are, in no particular order, 'Geek Love' by Katherine Dunn, 'The 21 Balloons' by William Pene du Bois, 'Capote' by Gerald Clarke and a little book called, oh, what was it...oh yeah...HARRY POTTER! Guilty pleasures I will admit to reading include the works of Clive Cussler and those Stieg Larsson bestsellers about that Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Who Plays With Fire and Goes Around Kicking Hornet's Nests.
Movies I like include 'Pee Wee's Big Adventure', pretty much any stupid SNL movie, 'The Triplets of Belleville' and most Scorcese. Except 'Gangs of New York'. Those accents were ridic, right?
Adventure Time, 30Rock30Rock30Rock, Bob's Burgers, Lucy Daughter of the Devil, ANYTHING with H. Jon Benjamin. VENTURE BROTHERS. I love all the crappy archeo-porn shows on the History and Science Channels-Hidden Apocalyptic Messages in the Shroud of Turin! Nazi Hunters Hunting for Hitler's Saved Brain in Aztec Bunkers! The Crystal Skulls Go Hunting for Meteorites on Civil War Battlefields! So trashy, so good.
And oh my, music is a real crap shoot. I love hearing new stuff even if it's not my cuppa tea, I'll even listen to 'new' country once. Probably just once, though. I had the amazing experience of seeing Nina Simone in concert. Lately Muse has been appealing. I'm a sucker for old skool hardcore gansta rap with a heavy base line. If you're too young to remember when rap had a message don't message me. (no, that's mean. you can message me and I'll explain it to you) Gawd, what else...(dot dot dot) Sleater-Kinney, JJ72, The The, The Smiths, the Hedwig soundtrack, any compilation album from John Waters, Peaches, Bootie Mashups and absolutely any Golden Era Country (extra points if you can tolerate an off-key rendition of Pistol Packin' Mama!), hair metal, glam rock, psychedelic, Funkadelic, queercore, Genesis pre-1980, classic rock, prog rock. I will take pretty much whateva ya got.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Good friends, family-especially my sisters, NPR, Rachel Maddow, a comfy chair, soft socks, and a few cats who like to eat spiders before they get near my body.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Ev-er-ee-thing! There is a lot going on all the time everywhere! I'll usually have IMDB on my laptop while I'm watching tv or movies so I can look up every actor. I consult Wikipedia at least 5 times a day. So I like gals who can converse on a lot of random, often ridiculous topics. If you play Trivial Pursuit (esp. the original version) you can pretty much have your way with me.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Nerding-out with the XBOX, watching reruns of Buffy on LOGO, Skypeing, laundry. Occasionally I will meet friends at Hamburger Mary's only to be reminded why I like to stay home with my computer and cats. And omg, did you know The Cooking Channel shows original episodes of Iron Chef and frakin' JULIA CHILD?! However, I can be persuaded to leave the house occasionally with a nice walk down Southport around Irving Park, maybe a stop at DQ, see what the midnight show is at The Music Box.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

If you like fat, sort-of butch nerds.
If you have the patience to explain what was so damn great about Firefly.
You could make a night of going to a Korean grocery store just to peruse the shelves and talk about all the foods you'd like to try but are too scared to. And then try them with me.
You really want to see The Giver but can't convince any of your other friends to go.
