My self-summary
I leap tall buildings in a single bound. I collect Nobel prizes like boys collect baseball cards. I swim the English Channel for lazy weekend relaxation. I stop bullets with my bare hands. And I have a very nice bridge I would like to sell you.

I am warm, conversational, nerdy, cultured, and a little impulsive. I make music and love silence, stay home and wander broadly. I am drawn to smart women who are creative, principled, nerdy, warm, wild, and sensual; who laugh easily, and who feel awestruck (at least sometimes) by the majesty of the world: a craggy hilltop in the fog; the squeak and sweat of street ball; a flooded river and a bright kayak; a long road and an old car; smells of whiskey and leather; lions at night; my children’s faces; a garage echoing with loud guitars; busted-up industrial buildings; dusty walking shoes; the steps to your home.

I want a love with whom to share a life of adventure and safety; wandering and domesticity. She may have traversed the planet, but she knows that the inner world (hers, mine, ours) contains continents and oceans yet to be explored...and she is an explorer, who seeks for beauty in light and darkness both. I know I won't find you overnight, but I've lived enough to be patient. Besides, I like meeting people, and I am happy to have a few affectionate intrigues along the way.
What I’m doing with my life
Family, friends, day work (teaching creative writing), night work (writing music and poetry), walking, thinking, laughing, making trouble with friends, and managing a heated bromance with my cat.

I have also directed Shakespeare and worked in Africa. I love both and will go back to them when I can.
I’m really good at
Getting out into the world
Getting to the bottom of things
Getting the gig

Also, editing other people's writing, though not always my own.
The first things people usually notice about me
My invisibility cloak.

The six things I could never do without
- Wind, trees, sunlight, darkness
- Laughter
- Language
- Music equipment
- Your embrace. Okay, I'm not dead yet - as far as I can tell - so I guess that's hyperbole. Like the rest of this list.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Reading on the couch with my son

Why many women on okcupid list parallel parking as the thing they're really good at. Actually, I think I might know, and I fully acknowledge the validity of the impulse. If you are one of them, I would like to talk with you about it.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hearing music, making music, walking in the mist.
You should message me if
You are really really smart, to the point where you intimidate many guys

You are in love with poetry, music, art, and the natural world.

You regularly find yourself overwhelmed by the vastness of your sensory experience...or by your need to giggle.

You have a warm heart
