My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I recently returned to San Francisco after working in Germany for a year. It was a great adventure, and I learned a ton of interesting stuff! Some German, some history, even a little bit about German food. But I'm delighted to be back home.

I grew up in Cambridge, MA, and moved to San Francisco for graduate school in 2005. I love the city, and I love getting out of the city every once in a while to go hiking, wine tasting, or just generally exploring everything there is to see in northern California. Long day-hikes are great, but I hate camping - hikes should end with a hot shower and a soft bed :-)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a biochemist most of the time. I like proteomics and bioinformatics. I'm also occasionally a writer. I finished my PhD thesis a couple of years ago, and in the last few months I've also finished up the rough draft of my novel.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I love reading fiction. Recent favorites include T. C. Boyle, Jane Smiley, Joseph O'Neil, John Updike, Chris Adrian, Jonathan Franzen, Gary Shteyngart, Sherman Alexie.

Honestly I don't watch that many movies. But I watch Stephen Colbert, John Stewart, and a few other things on Hulu, and I like to watch Law and Order at the gym. All-time favorite TV shows: Star Trek, obviously (TNG and DS9), and more recently, The West Wing, The Wire, Deadwood, Arrested Development, 30 Rock.

I will not attempt to impress you with a list of cool but little-known indie rock bands that I like.

I'm very independent. I guess that's code for saying that I tend to go slow with relationships. And friendship is a prerequisite for romance. If those ideas resonate with you too, then go ahead and message me.
