What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Living in West Philly, working full-time at PAFA, making artz at my new studio space in the Vox building--life is coming together! I moved here about a year ago, so I'm still kind of finding my footing, trying to make more art-community/ queer-community/ music scene friends. I feel like I made the right decision though. Philly is a really cool place.

I went to college in Boston and now most of the friends I made during school are scattered all around the country and I'm realizing how much effort it takes to maintain those friendships/ how difficult it can be to meet new people and cultivate new friendships without the given structural context of school. Maybe you're in a similar place? LET'S BE QUEER ART BUDDIES!

I'm also re-reading Infinite Jest. That's right. *re*-reading. I finished it, was like "uhhhmmmm nope. i don't think so," and immediately went back to the beginning. Which is so what DFW wanted me to do...But anyway, if you've read it, you know that it totally counts as a thing that I'm "doing with my life"
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
being ridiculous; dancing (like nobody's watching); eating; throwing ingredients together to make something tasty; (over-)analyzing situations; being enthusiastic about nouns that I like (and various other parts of speech. linguistics: shit is crazy-fascinating)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
my tattoo (if it's showing...it's an octopus; it lives on my shoulder--do you get my username now?)

I like to dress to make myself feel good and powerful, and I get a lot of compliments on my fashion choices. I tend to rock femme-tastic dresses I find at Goodwill for 5 bucks and unique jewelry pieces that mostly used to be my grandmothers, or are wins from H&M.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Air, water, food, living space, a sense of purpose, a creative outlet
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The future/ lofty goals/ ambitions and how I have no idea what I'm doing, but maybe that's how it should be
Gender/sexuality/socially constructed power dynamics and all the complexities therein [it's really weird for me to have to choose 'bisexual' for this site--I identify as 'queer' generally. Shit is complicated, situational, fluid, etc.
Intersectionality in terms of social justice concerns, which basically just means not negating one concern in favor of another (i.e. promoting feminist concerns while ignoring racism, classism, ableism, etc.)
Art's potential to broaden perspectives and redefine thinking

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If Infinite Jest is/ has ever been a part of your day-to-day existence and you'd wanna gush about it in long-winded conspiracy theorist diatribes
You're enthusiastic about something that you think I'd be enthusiastic about too
You're an artist and know where all the cool art things happen in the city
You are queer/ queer-friendly/ wanna talk about queering everything/ know where all the cool queer spaces are in the city (I'm mostly interested in meeting other queer people, not so much the cis dudes--sorry/not sorry)
