What I’m doing with my life
Recently finished a post-bacc year in studio art, which involved lots of wine and beer and making things and talking about art all the time (nostalgic sigh). I was also working at the campus art museum as an educational assistant, which was incredible (I got to lead conversations about works of art all day. People who thought they hated art suddenly realized they actually had things to say about it--magic, I say!)

Just moved to West Philly! Painted my room Kraft macaroni and cheese orange--my new housemate's ringing endorsement was "It looks like an anti-depressant in here!"

Still making things (http://cargocollective.com/RebeccahUlm), applying for residencies, probably to grad school again in December...

I work part time for a glass artist doing promotional events at Whole Foods stores that sell her jewelry, which is pretty cool because I get to spend occasional weekends in New York. Also might start working part time at PAFA soon!

I'm realizing how difficult it is to meet people outside of school, and how important it is to be around other creative people with inspiring ideas--Maybe you are one of those?
I’m really good at
being ridiculous; dancing (like nobody's watching); eating; throwing ingredients together to make something tasty; analyzing situations; being enthusiastic about nouns that I like
The first things people usually notice about me
my tattoo (if it's showing...it's an octopus; it lives on my shoulder--do you get my username now?)

Lately, my haircut? (Not shown in pictures because I have not taken any of late--it's really long and flowy on the left side, with a fuzzy undercut on the right. I like it. It's sassy. My friend told me recently that it "looks classy on me" whatever that means)

The six things I could never do without
Air, water, food, living space, mental stimulation, a sense of purpose
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The future/ lofty goals/ ambitions and how I have no idea what I'm doing
Gender/sexuality/socially constructed power dynamics and all the complexities therein [it's really weird for me to have to choose 'bisexual' for this site--I identify as 'queer' generally
Intersectionality in terms of social justice concerns, which basically just means not negating one concern in favor of another (i.e. promoting feminist concerns while ignoring racism, classism, ableism, etc.)
Art's potential to broaden perspectives and redefine thinking
On a typical Friday night I am
Ideally, meeting up with people I like to do things we all like to do
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
wouldn't you like to know...
