literate, perfectionistic, and wildly imaginative
My self-summary Propose an edit
I like myself. I like to spend time with smart, funny people who
have open views on the world. I like to laugh. I have a definite
dark side, which I don't easily share, but which is there for the
right people. I am a traveller, both in this world and within
myself. I think too much and I ask too many questions. My thinking
is not linear. I live within a tiny vortex of chaos, mostly of my
own making, because that's just me and that's where I am
comfortable. I am usually a little sleep-deprived, so I sometimes
get very tangential without realizing no one else is keeping up. I
appreciate someone who can give me a nudge back on track. i also
like eating chinese food with chopsticks, not a fork. its a mostly
useless skill, but i find it fun. =}
i am also sometimes called "duckie" or "the gnome queen".
feel free to check my myspace profile
(http://www.myspace.com/shadowed_dream) if you have a burning
desire to see more about the music i like, since that's primarily
all that is there. I'm always open to an email here if you'd like
to talk - I don't bite (much) and I don't mind talking to new
people.
btw - if you've stalked me more than once, and you serial stalkers
know who you are, just be brave and leave a message... =)
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I recently moved back to Florida, in the Tampa area. I lived here
several years ago for a time, and it was nice being back amidst
family. We'll see how it goes this time - the grandparents and
parents are older, a little more infirm, so its a whole new
ballgame living near them this time around.
Not sure yet what I am going to do with myself while I am here -
the thought of going back to school for a time has crossed my mind.
It never hurts to add a little more education under one's belt,
especially with the job situation being what it is. If I do go back
to school, I'll be going for something with computers - exactly
what, I'm not sure yet, but most likely something involving
graphics or web design.
Writing is still my main passion and where most of my artistic
talents are focused. All this tropic heat and indolent afternoons
spend drinking on the veranda might inspire my inner Hemingway and
give me the push to turn all those short stories and snippets
languishing on my hard drive into something worth submitting to a
publisher.
One never knows, and I kind of like it that way.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
Writing. Dark things, squirmy-not-so-comfortable things. Exploring
the dark corners of the soul. Giving shape to those nameless
desires we all hide from the light.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
My eyes. My hair.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
I love to read - pretty much whatever I can get my hands on.
Favored authors include Anne Rice, Tolkien, Poppy Z. Brite, and Jeff Long.
I highly recommend his book "The Descent". I grew up on "Wuthering
Heights", "The Count of Monte Cristo", and just about every classic
I crossed paths with has had a lasting impact on me. Words
fascinate me, and are a true passion.
I adore bad horror films. ~s~ I also like good horror films,
martial arts films, and some foreign films (Cinema Paradiso, The Stormriders,
Cold Comfort
Farm...yummy!). Things that can set my imagination loose and
take me to another place for the span of the movie. Another secret
movie/TV vice...i adore the Jackass movies, Viva la Bam, and all
the old CKY stuff. I even watch Wildboyz..~L~
Music changes for me from one mood to the next. My CDs range from
HIM to Audioslave to
Eminem to Rammestein to the Ramones to Smokey Robinson. No way to
pin it down to any one type. Current music obsession: Suomi rock.
Current favorite song: "I'm Not Jesus", Apocalyptica ft. Cory
Taylor. And for anyone out in the San Fran area, check out Absinthe
Boy if you get the chance - they are definitely worth the
listen!
Greek food does it for me, along with mexican and chinese. If I had
to pick my top 3 favorite foods, it would have to be mongolian
beef, stuffed grape leaves (no meat!), and chocolate raspberry
truffles.
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
In no particular order...
1. My computer. My life is on this thing, stored in its
memory.
2. My family. Everyone needs a touchstone in their life, and they
are mine. Except for those times when they are making me crazed and
i avoid them like the plague ~L~
3. Cherry Ice lipstick. Superficial, I know - but nothing gives an
ego boost on a rough day in quite the same way.
4. Music. If you don't know why, an explanation won't help.
5. Books. See #4.
6. Humor.
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
...the way the world is changing. How people relate to each other.
All the violence and destruction that is becoming commonplace all
around us.
...the paths I've chosen in life. The amazing places I've been and
things I've seen. How much fortune has smiled upon me. Wishing I
could give some of this joy to others.
...gathering the courage to open myself to another relationship.
about whether the chance of happiness is worth the chance of
pain.
...the merits of zombies vs. vampires.
...eyeliner boys, tattoos, ice palaces.
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
...probably home indulging my addiction to the 'net. going out
hasn't been as much fun since my favorite bar closed for smoke
damage after a fire in the building adjacent to it.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
...okay, i lied about still believing in love. or maybe not so much
lied as changed my mind. love exists, but its bloody hard to find,
harder still to keep and nurture, and almost impossible not to end
up hurting over. that said, i'm willing to risk it. maybe.
You should message me if Propose an edit
...you are looking to talk to a real person, take the time to get
to know me and let me get to know you
...you can string together a coherent sentence, punctuation
optional
...you have an overwhelming urge to sweep me off my feet and
install me cozily in a tiny loft apartment with a garden where i
can write all day and spend evenings with you in dark little bars
drinking icy vodka and arguing the finer points of pon and zi
...you are able to grill blindfolded, naked and in the middle of a
tornado
...you are planning to add me to your friends list. there is just
something just a little creepy about being friended by someone who
has never even said hello
...you're still here, reading at the very bottom of the profile
page and haven't died of boredom yet =)
