My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I just moved here in late September, so I'm still very new to the area. Looking for both people who are new to explore with me and people who have been here awhile and know the area well.

I'm focused on my writing, which is mainly fantasy with some science fiction thrown in too. I'm also a bit of a language geek and I'd spend most of my day learning languages if I could. (I've also tried Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and German, but didn't get far enough to make them worth listing on my profile here.)

I spend probably more time than I should playing video games, but I'm still catching up on many years' worth of games I missed so I'll probably never be current. Part of me wants to get to the point where I *am* up to date, but realistically there are too many other things I want to be doing for me to ever get there.

I am chaotic, insomniac, and spontaneous.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
The end goal is to make money off of my writing. Doesn't really matter if it's novels or (basically the reason why I've moved to Los Angeles) screenplays. (Yes, I know this is a cliché.) That's what I'm working toward.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Memorizing song lyrics and pointless movie trivia. Typing quickly. Recognizing voices. Making people laugh. Playing Jeopardy! I'm a pretty good dancer, too, although I haven't done much of that recently.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
No idea. My hair?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I can find books I like in almost any genre (except mysteries), but my favorites are fantasy, science fiction, history, and memoirs, especially travel memoirs. A few favorites: The Magicians and The Magician King (Lev Grossman), The Fry Chronicles (Stephen Fry), Haruki Murakami, The World's Major Languages (Bernard Comrie--read it cover to cover, and it was awesome), and William Dalrymple.

Movies: Again, too many. A few favorites: Hot Fuzz, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Pineapple Express, the Evil Dead trilogy, and Galaxy Quest. I also watch a lot of Indian movies (mostly Hindi ones because they're easier to find, but I'll watch ones in other languages too when available).

TV: I'm not that good at staying current. Eternal favorites: Futurama, Xena, Arrested Development (1-3; 4 NEVER HAPPENED). Currently going through a British television phase (Sherlock, Blackadder, The League of Gentlemen, A Bit of Fry and Laurie).

Music: Most genres, but my specific preferences change with my mood. Current favorites include The Glitch Mob, Die Antwoord, Florence + the Machine, Tool, and the wonderful world of Eurovision. However, I have also been known to listen to 90s pop. Consider yourself warned.

Food: Indian and Chinese. Also, I love soup. And cilantro.

Favorite video games: Baldur's Gate 2, KOTOR 2, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, and Sims 3. Currently playing/recently played: Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2, Jade Empire, Long Live the Queen.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Family and friends, books, music, my own writing, libraries, and caffeine.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
--Different methods of storytelling--how books differ from television and movies (and how they all differ from the stories found in video games), and how different cultures have developed different storytelling styles.

--How languages and their grammars evolve. How culture affects language and vice versa.

--Language and grammar in general. I'd blame this on being both a writer and an ex-ESL teacher, but I'd be thinking about them even if I weren't.

--The futures of the film/television/publishing industries.

--How to make a good cilantro chocolate cake. (If you know of a recipe, please let me know--I haven't been able to find any online, but I'm convinced it's possible.)

--Which book to read next.

--History.

--The state of education in the US and other countries. Actually, just education in general--if you're in school, expect me to ask you about your essay topics/classes/that sort of thing. And I will genuinely be interested and not just asking out of courtesy.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Working, unfortunately. (Ah, the exciting life of a freelancer.)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I think Gunther (http://gunther-official.com/, which is not work safe, although I don't know why you would be on this site at work in the first place) is hilarious. I don't know if it's all a joke or if he actually is on a mission to "spread the message of Love," and I don't care.

You're looking for someone else to play board games (or other games) with.

Oh, and maybe if you're interested in that whole dating thing, too. And if you're going to say more than "Hi" or something along those lines. Seriously, I have a lot of information up here about my interests, current life, etc., and yet people don't seem to take advantage of that.
