My self-summary
Hi, I'm Shannon :) been in Austin for about two and a half years now... I'm a pretty big fan, although the jury is still out on Spring weather, and traffic. Scratch that. Verdict is guilty on traffic, haha.
Anyway, I've made some pretty great friends here, but I'm always up for meeting new people! :)
I like to think I'm a pretty laid back, down to earth girl. Although, it seems everyone thinks that about themselves! I keep my friendships uncomplicated, and believe when it comes along, the right relationship will be also. I know it won't be perfect, but it should be with someone who I feel is my best friend, and, well, I keep my friendships uncomplicated! ;)
I really love traveling. I try to do it often - anytime, anywhere, everywhere. I also really love to read, although I don't have a lot of time for it anymore, which bums me out! I like yoga, riding bikes, swimming... I prefer getting my exercise by doing things rather than reps on a machine. Boring. I'm also a better speller than almost anyone I know, haha, and really good at math. Too bad every math teacher I've had has been awful, so I don't really enjoy it very much. I do geek out over Excel, though. I love adrenaline rushes, and adventures. Skydiving, white water rafting, crazy roller coasters, fast cars - you name it, I'm probably into it, or want to try it. I have super curly hair, naturally. I'm a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl most of the time, but I do love getting fancy! I'm also pretty sensitive, and extremely sympathetic/ empathetic. I learned the "treat others the way you want to be treated" lesson pretty well - I love the people in my life with a fierceness, and I'm loyal almost to a fault. Wearing my heart on my sleeve has gotten me burned a lot in the past, so you'd think I'd have learned the "keep it a little closer to the vest" lesson pretty well also, buuuut not so much, haha!
Anyway, I can be a bit of a rambler, so if I don't stop now, you're going to be stuck here reading forever :)... so here's the thing. My life is in a pretty great place right now, and I'm really happy with it - love my job, my friends, my home. I love meeting new people that I think will enrich my life even more - smart, funny, honest, trustworthy, no drama people, and would hope that I'm giving the same back. I have amazing people in my life, and one day it will just "click" with one, and the idea is exciting. Until then, I'm content with how things are going, and looking forward to what's to come! :)
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an admin/executive assistant at an architecture firm. My company designs some amazing projects, and I'm pretty proud to be a part of it. I hope I have the opportunity to grow there the way that I'm envisioning. Lately I've been considering going back to school, but I'm pretty torn between PR and nursing school. I suppose that's why I haven't bitten the bullet yet.
I’m really good at
Spelling. Being a friend. Math. Puns. Negotiating. Finding odd things funny. Writing. Pumping my gas to the exact dollar. Telling 'you had to be there' stories, haha.
The first things people usually notice about me
Hmm. My hair probably, haha. My smile. I'm a little reserved at first most of the time, so I don't think any personality traits jump out immediately. Maybe my sarcasm?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Swan Song, The Stand, Watchers (anything by Dean Koontz, really), A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Good Omens, Contagion, anything by Ellen Hopkins, I have this Human Body/Society book that is one of the best coffee table purchases I've ever made

Movies: Shawshank Redemption, Garden State, Little Miss Sunshine, Forrest Gump, The Notebook (shhhh, I'm a girl!), Life as a House, Fight Club, Election, The Big Lebowski, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Just Friends, The Departed, Inception, American Beauty, Super Troopers, Grandma's Boy, A Lot Like Love, Chocolat, and pretty much any quote-along or Master Pancake at The Drafthouse.

Shows: Dexter, Homeland, The Big C, Nurse Jackie, Shameless, House of Lies.... I suppose I could just cross all of that out, and say "anything on Showtime"..... Breaking Bad, Girls, Touch, Revenge, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Arrested Development, New Girl, Suburgatory, Modern Family

Music: I honestly have one of the most eclectic tastes in music out of anyone I know. This list would be entirely too long.

Food: Italian, a really great burger or steak, chocolate chip cookies haha, Mexican.... hmmm, this is hard. You might as well know now that I am SUPER indecisive when it comes to food. My answer is often "I don't know" or "I don't care" when asked where, or what, to eat. I am somewhat picky, but I can find something to eat anywhere, and for the most part really DON'T care where, or what, we eat. I just like food! :D
The six things I could never do without
My friends/family
My Kindle (or just a good book on hand at all times!)
My passport
Toothbrush
My car (love to drive - also, road trips!)
Music
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Human nature. The brain. Vacations I want to take, haha.
On a typical Friday night I am
Doing anything, really. Just depends on my mood. Hang out with friends, go to a bar or dancing or a movie, stay in and read or write or catch up on some tv.
