Not a huge fan of autobiography. However, since I know I read them
when checking out other people, I guess fair is
fair...world-traveler, ex-Navy flyer, skier (water and snow),
motorcycle enthusiast, runner, scuba diver, Bay-area born, wine
lover, food lover... LOVE this area for the weather, access to the
ocean, food, wine, Giants and Sharks. Miss my family on the east
coast...but not nearly enough to move there.
What I’m doing with my life
Traveling a bit, working in sales (not working too hard, I must
admit), STILL celebrating the Giants championship (I will do this
forever, since I never thought it would happen), looking forward to
the Sharks (maybe?) getting a Cup this year, awaiting the arrival
of the consistently good riding weather. Preparing to begin
training for another marathon (Marine Corps in DC, or NYC if I get
in with the lottery), playing golf (badly).
I’m really good at
Conversation, Trivial Pursuit, debate, remembering old movie lines,
singing bad '70's pop music, running marathons, scuba diving,
cooking omlettes, making a spicy Bloody Mary, annoying
The first things people usually notice about me
Smile, I guess. Deep voice, maybe.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
"Freakonomics" is brilliant; if you've ever used statistics to make
a point, or been annoyed at someone ELSE using statistics to win an
argument, you need to read this book. Now. "The Art of Racing in
the Rain;" GREAT book if you are a dog lover, or a philosopher, or
especially if you are both. "Born to Run." A little book by one of
my dad's best friends called "Larke, El Capitan, and the Theory of
Everything." "Life of Pi." Love historical fiction ("Killer
Angels," "Caine Mutiny"), trash novels by Lee Child. Movies: Usual
Suspects, Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, So I Married an Ax
Murderer, Blazing Saddles, Goodfellas, K-Pax, Office Space,
Godfather (I & II, but NOT III...that movie was a heaping pile
of dung), Twelve Angry Men, just about anything with Clint
Music is everything from classical (for relaxation) to hip-hop (for
dancing). Anyone would find something to like and something to hate
in my collection. I still have hundreds of vinyl records, but my
antique, 1980's-vintage turntable is broken:(
Ahh, food...LOVE just about every kind of food! I ate some WEIRD
stuff over the years (I'm still not sure what that was I ate in
Bangladesh...). Sushi is probably #1.
The six things I could never do without
Oceans, sunshine, motorcycles, books, sports, running shoes, great
wine, great beer, cheese...yeah, I know it's more than 6, I don't
follow directions well.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What the hell I want to be when I grow up. When I should get a dog.
Going "minimalist" and getting rid of most of my stuff.
On a typical Friday night I am
drinking a glass of wine after a good workout, heading out to
listen to music, or going to bed early if it's been a long week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I cry when I read dog books. Shut up.
You should message me if
You enjoy good conversation, written or verbal. You like sports
(watching or participating), or can be good-humored about me
watching and participating. You can laugh at yourself. You are only
slightly crazy. You'd like to meet up eventually (I enjoy a good
pen pal as much as the next guy, but...).
