Less Spiritual, eh...?

I keep running into Buddhists on OKC who have personality awards for being *less* spiritual (as do I). It seems like a misnomer. Personally I believe less religious would be a more accurate phrase. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Technologie brain fry!

Maybe it's the ADD hyperfocus. Maybe it's how awkward I felt at the Dark Horse party during SDCC. Maybe it's because I turned 40 this year and all of the sudden there's a fire under my ass to create for myself instead of my publishers or employers. Whatever the reason, I'm actually doing it, writing and drawing and planning. But I have a tendency to bite off too much at a time.

For instance, in the past week I bought Manga Studio Debut, downloaded ComicPress and started working on streaming from my computer while I'm drawing. I'm spending the weekend dabbling in everything. Now it's 5ish and I'm pooped!

Then again, maybe that's because my commute and job are taking up all but 3 hours each weekday evening and I want to pack in as much fun and progress as I can during the weekend. That's not so great for my social life (though my cat's loving the company).

Still, it feels really good. All I need now is a break from the computer, which I think I will take starting...now!

Have a blast at Comic Con

Got here midday with my best friend and her family. Joss Whedon panel for Dr. Horrible was spectacularly funny. Not only is Nathan Fillian an accomplished card, but Joss is picking up the timing. The two of them riffing off each other, with Neil Patrick Harris occasionally joining in the mix was hysterical.

The weather is perfect and I have an invitation to the Dark Horse party this evening. The only downsides: missing the ex a bit, as we were here together last year; best friend and I both came down with pre-flu symptoms before we even met up this weekend. I'm holding up, she's getting worse. Hoping she rallies, but I'll do what I can to make her more comfortable in case she doesn't.

There are so many interesting panels tomorrow, I don't know which ones I'll go see! Heh, whatever it is, I have a feeling I'll be sleeping in and missing the first round or two.
