My Self-Summary
I believe that all relationships, friendships in particular, are about giving and taking (you know, give-and-take?), and that's how I operate. As far as dating goes... I honestly don't know how someone can turn down an advance from someone based solely on sexuality, religion, or race. You never know what you're turning away unless you try it out.
I sometimes leave my OKCupid and AIM logged in during the day, even if I'm not near a computer, so don't be offended if it says I'm online and you don't hear from me. Even if I'm idle, you can IM me, and I'll get to it.
I am one of those rare people who recognizes that a frightening proportion of women are raped before they even get into a stable relationship (putting aside for a moment the fact that any sexual abuse is frightening); that, 9 times out of 10, the people you meet in the real world and online have been victimized, men and women alike, in one or a variety of different ways; that past disappointments and abuses color a person's future relationships; and, that very few lives are idyllic. I realize this is depressing news: c'est la vie! "Vie" is about being able to get out of bed the next day, and do something with yourself.
That's a little about me, and my philosophy.
P.S. I need to learn French. Can anyone teach me conversational French, or point me to someone who can? I have Rosetta Stone, I'm looking for real people. I need to learn the kind of dynamic interaction that only comes from... well, dynamic interaction.
--Update-- July 16th
I found a bike, and I am in love. Link is below.
--Update-- July 28th
I'm looking for something a little smaller than a 998. Not much, but definitely smaller. It's not my idea, but I have been a little high on the idea of a big bike. Oooh, mamasita... (lol)

What I’m doing with my life
Otherwise, I spend a lot of free time cooking, going outdoors, or learning something. The world is far too beautiful to stay inside some days.
I’m really good at
The first things people usually notice about me
Honestly, I can't say what men notice first. I guess I never really asked. My few gay friends (Steinberg Shout-Out!) say they noticed my chest and my eyes first. Unfortunately, everything else in this section makes me sound like a braggart.
There are tons of things to notice about me, take your pick.
--Update--
I've had more than a few people tell me that the first thing they notice is my voice, men and women alike. I sing (to myself) in public more than I realize. I even had an offer to replace a vocalist in a band (but, country's not my thing).
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I love to cook, all sorts of foods and a variety of nationalities. I've recently been expanding my horizons, and I am getting really good at coming up with a meal idea by starting with just one ingredient. Feel free to ask me about my cooking!
I just realized I haven't put any movies in here. I'll watch most anything except for horror movies. I just don't see gore and entertainment being in any other sentence I'll ever write. That being said, I'm a big fan of the Saw series.
And, Serenity should be on a shelf in every American household. So should be Waking Life.
As for books, I don't do a lot of pleasure reading anymore. I've been perusing various tomes (on to Rosetta Stone) to teach myself French, or to learn about motorcycle mechanics. I am, however, very into the Halo book series (yes, I game, and well, too), and I'll occasionally pick up a book on cryptography.
I have picked up some pleasure reading, as of late. Namely, Darkly Dreaming Dexter.
Some bands in my iTunes:
Alien Ant Farm, Bob Marley & the Wailers, Coldplay, Creedance Clearwater Revival, Daft Punk, David Cook, Eric Clapton, Fiona Apple, George Carlin, G&R, Halo 3 Soundtrack, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson, Korn, Lady Gaga, Linkin Park, Live, The Mars Volta, Metallica, OOMPH!, Paramore, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, Queens, Queens of the Stone Age, Rammstein, Savage Garden, Sharon Little, Silent Hill 3 Soundtrack, Sly & the Family Stone, System of a Down, Tool, True Blood Soundtrack
Currently singing: Eric Clapton - Layla (acoustic version)
The six things I could never do without
2) A lover. I am the kind of man that really finds more pleasure in life alongside a beautiful woman. I can explore the world by myself, so, maybe this doesn't belong here. Life is just so much more enjoyable with a partner at my side. There's fun to be had alone, and with friends and family, but an intimate partner makes everything gravy. It's like heavy cream in cooking; it makes anything, and everything, better!
3) Music. I love to sing. I'm open to joining a band, since my band is done for now; just something to do in my spare time.
4) Knowledge. I love to learn, and to teach. It drives me. Right now, I'm learning to ride a motorcycle, and I've already fallen in love with one: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products/modelgallerylib/7/1/0/gallery.aspx
5) Good food. I love to cook, and I do it well. It's something I get from my family; Uncle Perry was a chef, and my mother made the best cakes, cookies, and brownies you could ever eat. I miss those sugar cookies!
6) A really good friend. A really good friend is a lot like a really good lover, minus the bedroom intimacy (or wherever passion takes you). They both are people you can share your soul with, and can rely on (and they know they can rely on you, too) when times are tough for you. Best of all, a really good lover can be your best friend, which is what I am truly looking for.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I also spend a lot of time thinking about what I want to do with life. There's more information about that elsewhere on my profile. Suffice it to say, though, that I want to do everything (typical centaur Sag). Right now, I'm using what spare time I can scrounge to write a book (sci-fi post-apocalyptic, but no zombies), learn to work on and ride motorcycles, and look at my market for starting a business, which might be taking a sideline for now.
On a typical Friday night I am
I've been going to the beach a lot lately. Anyone up for some sun?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
The first time I saw the commercial for Interactive Male, I didn't realize it was an advertisement for gay men to phone each other until nearly a minute after the commercial was over. The whole time, I was thinking, "Wow, that was very... gay. That dude is WAY too buff to be straight." In my defense, it was past 3 in the morning.
I've been to a musical (Phantom of the Opera), and I'm not ashamed to say I was. I'll even sing something from it every so often. I've also seen Rocky Horror Picture Show, but have yet to see a live show. Where can I find one?
The oldest woman I have ever hit on was 53 at the time (I am not kidding), someone I worked with on an occasional basis. I honestly thought she was in her late twenties or early thirties. And, that wasn't the biggest surprise; that came when we were chatting, and her husband came into the store. Since then, he didn't really like me too much (no surprise). I cut the flirting when I realized she wasn't supposed to do it.
I have a playlist in my iTunes called, "Bedroom". It includes G&R - Used to Lover Her, Queen - Fat Bottomed Girls, Rammstein - Te Quiero Puta!, and The Marshall Tucker Band - Can't You See, as well as Hello Zepp from the Saw movies. I have a sense of humor, deal with it! At least I get a laugh out of it...
You should message me if
If there's a typo somewhere, or something doesn't make sense, let me know. If I find one, it'll bother me that I didn't see it. I was raised by a single English major.
