I love to meet new people and converse. I always try to get to know people. Well, or say something dumb and spend the rest of the night defending it just for the hell of it.

I really like to travel; I’ve been all over the world, taking in the sights and culture. England is my second home, and the Spanish island Majorca is the single best place to relax I’ve been too.

I'm an avid reader with more books than I know what to do with. Science Fiction, History, Fantasy, Technical... enough books to start my own library.

I play games of most any kind. The only restriction is that they have to match my rather eclectic requirement that they be fun to play.

I am a computer programmer by trade and love that it allows me to create things from scratch. Such a tendency runs into my other hobbies as well, such as learning to play guitar... badly, and my do it yourself projects.

At the moment I'm working on a Machine Learning (a branch of AI) program to help the detection of breast cancer in mammograms. A noble cause if I do say so, though they do make me pay for parking. The project has produced two peer reviewed publications so far with plans for more, so I guess I can claim in a loose way that I'm an author.

Otherwise I have a bunch of side projects going on including an online debate website, a rogue-like game, and a social networking startup, which should be seeking funding early next year.

Well, on the books front I find I'll read most anything if it makes me think or roll on the ground laughing, such as A Problem From Hell, a book about genocide; The Flashman series which is about the worst British officer in the world; The Dark Tower, a dark fantasy novel; and War, a book about the evolutionary origins of human conflict.

Film and TV also follow a similar theme. I like silly fun like American Dad or Adventure Time while also enjoying dystopian science fiction, like Children of Men or the Hunger Games.

Games are also on the table, both board and the kind that cause people on the internet to insult me.

My taste in music spans trance, metal, a small amount of rap, and pretty much anything with good guitar work or a driving beat.
