My self-summary
I'm a graduate student in the philosophy department at UT. I also think obsessively about obscure topics (the two are obviously related).
I'm not looking for anything particularly serious as I'm almost surely moving in 2 years, but I am looking for fun activity partners, conversation partners and the like.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now I teach impressionable college students about the relationship between things like the scientific worldview and free will, personal identity, and morality. When not doing that I research memories (not surprisingly, the relationship between empirical research about memory and our commonsense understanding of the phenomena associated with it).

I'm also prone to spending remarkable amounts of time in coffeehouses, roaming around Hyde Park, and enjoying the Austin atmosphere (as vacuous as that sounds).
I’m really good at
Analyzing things from multiple perspectives.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyelashes (this made me very uncomfortable as a child--I don't care how cute you think they are, a middle-aged woman should not tell a small boy that she's going to steal his eyelashes)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I mostly read philosophy now. However, in the past I have thoroughly enjoyed John Updike novels, 1984, A Brave New World, The Great Gatsby, Animal Farm, Stephen King's The Stand (and no other Stephen King books), The Road, Lolita, L. Ron Hubbard's Fear (an definitely no other Hubbard stuff).

I tend to not like watching movies much, though I like most Coen Brothers' and Wes Anderson films. Surely there are others as well.

In terms of TV, I've remained dedicated to the Simpsons even though most episodes are now terrible. I also watch Bob's Burgers which is underrated. I also REALLY enjoyed Deadwood and The Wire. Otherwise, I mostly use TV for background noise.

I'm not a big fan of contemporary pop, country, or post-early 90's hip hop. Otherwise I like most music.

I have an entirely indiscriminate palette when it comes to food. Though I try to limit my red meat intake and think it's probably a moral shortcoming that I eat any meat at all.
The six things I could never do without
My tech toys (there are 5)

Coffee

My musical instruments (there are 5)

Bonus points for anyone that immediately sees the two possible ways in which I didn't follow directions for this category (Yes, I am a dork).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
If you've not met a philosopher, I'll warn you that we typically LOVE thinking about almost ANYTHING, and over-thinking most things.
On a typical Friday night I am
This spring I was writing lectures, hanging out in a particular coffee house and sometimes doing the usual "social" things. This summer, I'll likely be in a bowling league (I know, how "hip" is that?).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm not a particularly private person but I don't see why I should put private things on the web.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–33
  • Near me
  • For new friends, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
You think you can handle a philosopher and aren't looking for anything serious, but are looking for complementary things as to what I'm looking for?
