I am lyrical, quixotic, and an over-thinker.

My Self-Summary

I'm in my last few weeks of college and I'm preparing to re-enter the world of free time. I know it may sound crazy for a 27 year old to be hesitant to have the hours between 5PM and 8AM free, but it's a little daunting. I haven't dated very seriously in the past couple of years because of all of my responsibilities so I'm both excited and (a little) terrified to enter back into the dating waters again.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm listening to a lot of music, reading a lot for school, drinking a lot of coffee, and enjoying the cool fall weather that is starting to show up here in the metroplex. I'm also seriously contemplating a permanent move to the East coast. Granted, it will be a long time from now (since I can't even pretend to afford it right now) but I'm pretty sure I was born in the wrong state. For now I guess I'll just save my pennies and visit as much as possible!

I’m really good at

Being awkward.. snuggling.. quoting song lyrics in random conversation.. having inside jokes with everyone.. saying inappropriate things.. making people laugh.. laughing at myself.. being clumsy (walking into door frames is my specialty).. procrastinating.. making up interpretive car-dance moves to songs on the radio.. expecting you to read my mind when I can't think of the word I'm looking for or the name of a movie or song..

On a more serious note, I'm really good at writing and I plan on doing something with this talent in the future.

The first things people usually notice about me

*that I've just walked into a door frame
*my red hair
*that I'm delightful
*the tattoo on my wrist

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books:
My school work has made books quite a large part of my life lately. I don't have much time to read anything that hasn't been assigned but luckily my teachers have excellent taste in books these days. I'm even considering getting my MA after I finish up school now. :) (this will be a LONG time from now.. I'm having a hard enough time focusing for the last 4 weeks of my BA!)

Movies:

My favorite movies include: Once, Boondock Saints, Amelie, Little Miss Sunshine, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Princess Bride, French Kiss, Memento, Fight Club, and V for Vendetta, Elizabethtown. I also have a love of sad movies I'd have to say the genres I like are sad and quirky.. which they don't have sections for at Blockbuster (but they totally should!)

Music!

The music I listen to most changes pretty frequently. I have a tendency to get obsessed with a song/cd/band and listen to it until I find another one to be obsessed with.. etc. etc. etc. I absolutely love music.. it's an important part of my life on a daily basis and I'd love to learn to play acoustic guitar so that I can pretend to be creative and come up with some of my own.

While I do listen to all of the bands listed below, I've found myself listening to Right Away, Great Captain! pretty exclusively lately. I go through phases with these CDs where I don't listen to much else. Andy Hull is a creative genius, and if you've ever heard any of his music you probably understand how this could happen.

Lately I've been listening to Company of Thieves - Paste Music Samplers!!! - The Sea and Cake- The American Analog Set - Audrye Sessions - Bishop Allen - Red House Painters - Vetiver- Death Cab for Cutie - Cursive - anything Mark Kozelek is a part of - Songs: Ohia- Sun Kil Moon- The Working Title- Eulogies- Revival- Manchester Orchestra- Right Away, Great Captain! (I love Andy Hull's voice!)- Eagle Seagull- The Honorary Title- Badly Drawn Boy- Margot & The Nuclear So & So's- The Shins- Band of Horses- Counting Crows (of course, it's always on the playlist)- This Will Destroy You- Andrew Bird- Sinking Ships- The Appleseed Cast- The Strokes- Arcade Fire... etc. etc. etc.

Food is okay, but I'd rather have coffee.

The six things I could never do without

forget that question, I'm changing it to the equally cliche, "here are a few of my favorite things..."

-sharing a smile with a stranger
-the feeling of standing on the precipice of something new and exciting in life
-the first day of fall when the weather really changes and there's a crispness in the air
-peppermint mochas
-falling in love with a song on a CD I've had for years but didn't know existed!!!
-stormy weather
-the ocean (combine this with stormy weather and I'm in heaven!)
-the last line of a really good book
-deja vu
-creating something.. anything really

I spend a lot of time thinking about

things I may be thinking about:

-graduating!
-the last song I heard
-the meaning of life
-the future
-why I use ellipses so often
-whether or not I should make time for more fun things
-sleep
-something I've been meaning to write down
-the ocean and how I need to move closer to it
-etc. etc. etc.

On a typical Friday night I am

Usually hanging out at the house. Maybe catching some coffee with my older sister or just having a movie marathon by myself. I'm pretty low-key, so Fridays don't usually involve going out and getting wasted or anything. I'd rather have a book, some music, and a coffee most of the time.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I feel like I'll end up doing something creative in my life career-wise even though I'm working on one hell of a back-up plan with all of this school work!

oh, and I dig guys with beards.

You should message me if

-You know who you are and what you want out of life.

-You are quirky and unconventional..but not batshit crazy. I love strange people but not crazy psychotic people.

-You want to talk about music, books, life, etc.
