Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a geeky, goofy, poly guy who probably thinks too much. I enjoy
taking ideas apart and putting them back together again; it works
for games, music, politics, and cooking.
My favorite person in the world is my cat Oedipus; he and I have
seen some things. I'm a Sounders season ticket holder, not too
shabby at pub trivia, and am working on perfecting my cappuccino
and my manhattan.
I try to keep pretty active with interests old and new. My gaming
library grows faster than I can play it, recently joined a soccer
league with coworkers, and when I can find the time, I try to keep
up with bands coming through town and cool museum exhibits.
I am laid-back, logical, and laugh easily.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a game designer; its a great job and I'd be doing it for fun
even if I weren't paid for it. I'm currently working for a great
medium-sized mobile games developer downtown. The hours can be
long, but the team feels like a group of passionate friends and not
very much like a job at all. I call that a win.
Also, if you know what 'NSPP' refers to, you will find a reference
to it here.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making up answers to questions that sound legit, then finding out
the real answers to see how close my [sometimes educated] guesses
were. It's like playing Balderdash with myself, and learning is
Sharing suggestions for music, movies, or games. Watching sports,
going to live music, and slowly digesting art museums. Cooking,
when I get motivated to put some effort in.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've had blue hair since college; there's something to the
'persistent self image' theory put forth in the Matrix. I'll
probably keep doing it like this until gene therapy comes along to
do it permanently. It's also proof of the moral that some whimsical
decisions can turn out to be very rewarding.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Favorite authors include Gibson, Stephenson, Lehmen, Gaiman,
Pratchett, and Vinge.
Favorite movies include Cloud Atlas, Rushmore, Lost in Translation,
Spirited Away, Way of the Gun, and Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang.
I'm always devouring music, but I don't often listen to the radio.
I love to trade music with people, and I always hope I can turn a
friend on to a great artist they didn't know about before. My
all-time favorites include Built to Spill, Belle & Sebastian,
Modest Mouse, Sleater-Kinney, Yo La Tengo, the Album Leaf, Field
Music, Wilco, the Smiths, the Sea and Cake, Broken Social Scene,
I'm looking for a concert buddy! I hate going alone, but I'd love
to have a friend to go out to shows with. I also need to see more
live theater and stand-up comedy.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-My music collection
-Oedipus [my cat]
-My electrogadgets, especially those that let me play games or read
-the NFL, MLS, or the Olympics [whichever's in season]
-Doppio Macchiatos and/or Belgian beer
-That feeling you get in your chest when you realize that the
person you have come to really like has similar feelings for you
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
-Work: a little sad, but we all do it. Also, many of my best ideas
have come when I'm away from the office.
-Politics: why do we condone so much greed, and how are people
convinced that those who act against their best interests are doing
so for their own good?
-Which games to play next, who to play them with, and how to find
time to do more fun things in a single day.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Playing games with friends, slowly drinking small amounts of good
coffee, checking out some live music, or looking forward to the
next Sounders match.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You want to catch a concert, or see the game from your favorite
local sports bar. Maybe you need recommendations on where to get a
good cup in any part of town?
I've been poly for more than a while now, and it works for me. I'm
looking for new things, new people, and no emotional gymnastics.
I'm honest, open with my thoughts, and respectful above all else,
and I hope you are too.
