My self-summary
I was the kid in class who always wanted to know why things worked the way they do and wouldn't stop with the answer in the book. I endeavor to create my own path in life. Rather than blindly follow others, I like to experience new things, create ideas and energize people around me. I'm looking for a partner in crime who can join me in fun and exploration. Someone who can walk with me off the beaten path and enjoy the adventure.

I am a friendly, down to earth type of guy, with a great sense of humor (just like every other guy, right?). I love pop culture. Movies, books, music, comic books, video games...I really enjoy being with someone who gets a joke. I'm sarcastic as hell (in a funny way, not to try to hide my feelings) but open as a book and I prize honesty (Does anyone ever say they are looking for someone who is blatantly dishonest though?)

I have two wonderful children, ages 13 and 15 who are the center of my world. Without a doubt, being a father is the single most important thing to me and I am grateful for my children every day. I have custody of them about 50% of the time or more, so if you are looking for a weekend dad type, I'm afraid I'm not that guy.

I can be quite gregarious. I love talking with people who know the difference between an intellectual discussion and an argument. I enjoy people who are open to examining different ideas and concepts. I am a supportive, encouraging person who believes people are inherently good. I am definitely not the pretentious type.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm learning. I'm never going to get too old for that and don't ever want to. I am interested in almost anything at some time or another. Personal growth is something important to me and not an afterthought. Learning and growing is essential to me.

Right now, I'm working for the man in the software development industry, but over my career I've owned several businesses and done quite bit of different stuff. All I know, is I HATE being bored at work. I'd rather be insanely busy than have a job doing nothing.

My focus right now is raising my kids and trying to live in the moment. Appreciating those people in my life who are important to me and being truly present when I spend time with them. Instead of thinking about all the things I have to do I've resolved to focus on what I am doing at the moment. To quote Ferris Bueller, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it"
I’m really good at
Anything having to do with technology. I'm also really good at listening to people. Actually listening, not just nodding my head. Making an effort to hear what they are saying! I am really good at explaining new ideas to people and learning new things myself.

I'm also good at making people smile or laugh. I'm a fiercly loyal person and am always willing to give people the benefit of the doubt. I don't tend to get hung up on the little things.
The first things people usually notice about me
I've been told its my eyes. I've also been told its my laugh. Or that I'm not tiny. I don't really know and try not to assume. You tell me...

I've also been told its my energy. I tend to energize people around me often. I don't know why, but it happens...and to tell the truth, I enjoy it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Anything by Stephen King, Robert J. Sawyer, and pretty much anything I find interesting, ranging from fiction, to books about string theory to biographies of Al Capone to just about anything. Currently I'm reading a fair amount of science fiction and some historical stuff. Also reading some fairly boring textbooks, but such is life.

Movies: Pulp Fiction, Young Frankenstein, Inception, Idiocracy (its stupid, but its funny), Star Wars, The Dark Knight, The Hangover, The 40 year old virgin My movie tastes are all over the place, but I love comic book movies, comedies, Star Wars, Star Trek, bad movies that are funny because they are so bad, pretty open to anything.

Music: Almost anything but Opera.

Food: A good burger is probably up there for me. People think its odd, but I like burgers but don't eat steak. Makes no sense to me either. Italian food and Mexican tend to be high on my list. I'll try different stuff pretty willingly, but don't particularly like beef all that much (unless its ground). I like cheese on things. but am unlikely to sit there and eat a piece of it by itself. My favorite type of cheese is "melted." There are only two foods I know of that I absolutely cannot stand, but I will let you guess what they are.
The six things I could never do without
My Kids
My Dog
My Friends
A sense of humor
Some sort of ebook reader
Internet access!

Also oxygen, food, shelter, but you knew that already. Also I don't particularly like not having books to read handy...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
All sorts of stuff.
- My kids and what they will be like when they are adults.
- How I can guide them appropriately.
- How to get teams to work together without killing each other
- Pop culture, science, technology....
- How to improve my life and those of people I care about.
- How to live in the moment & appreciate what is happening now.
- Funny, stupid stuff

Pretty much i'm all over the place and interested in almost everything to one degree or another.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually spending it with my kids doing something that we hopefully all enjoy. Finding this is often a collaborative effort but well worth it.

Or I'm out with some friends to see a movie or do something fun.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I get lost going straight. I have absolutely no sense of direction. If it weren't for GPS technology, I probably couldn't get home from work.

Otherwise, I'm pretty open. Just ask
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 31–49
  • Near me
  • For new friends
You should message me if
You feel like it. It's not my style to tell you what to do. Also, if you are emotionally available, affectionate, and a decent person. It would help if you believe most people are inherently decent. Angry, bitter people need not respond.

You should message me if you are passionate about something. Its good to have something you hold more than a passing interest in, regardless of what it is. Tell me what causes the light behind your eyes to shine brightest!

I am a work in progress. A medical issue (thankfully totally resolved now) left me sedentary for an extended period, and I am working to get back in shape, but I'm not there yet. If this is an issue for you, move on, as I would rather be accepted for who I am. Overly judgmental people should probably pass on through. I accept people for who they are, flaws and all, and want to meet those who do the same.

Also, if you have no sense of humor, you'd probably be wasting your time with me, as mine is on almost all the time.
