I am sciential, hackish, and empathic.
My Self-Summary
An open-minded and curious person interested in the inner workings
of the whole world from the tiniest subatomic scales up to the
complexity of the human society and the vastness of the Universe.
(wow, that sounded like, er... , anyway, yeah, I guess that's me :D
)
Oh, and I'm the kind of person who thinks xkcd.com webcomic is
funny. And who likes Monty Python. And... and... who is not
particularly good at describing himself at the moment :)
So... where were we... Aha. Open-minded and curious. And
technically inclined. But interdisciplinary ("Complexity science,
anyone?" "What-what??" "Oh, never mind."). Meaning that while I can
program a little bit, I also have, say, ArtRage 2.2 Free installed
in my computer at the moment, and Wacom Graphire4 A6 in my desk
drawer... And, of course, music stuff like... well, I'd rather not
speak about it yet ;)
Hm, I just checked Eric Raymonds site about hackers
[http://catb.org/~esr/faqs/hacker-howto.html] (not to be confused
with crackers) and I think these points about hacker attitude
pretty much apply to me as well:
1. The world is full of fascinating problems waiting to be solved.
2. No problem should ever have to be solved twice. 3. Boredom and
drudgery are evil. 4. Freedom is good. 5. Attitude is no substitute
for competence.
(but I definitely do not claim to be a hacker or something)
I do like nature (especially Nordic (incl. Estonian)), mountains,
water, ... I like people who do not lie, who are friendly,
intelligent, think positively (well, within reason, not the "Oh
####, the Moon just fell on New York, but let's keep smiling
anyway" kind), have self-confidence, ...
What I’m doing with my life
Exploring the uncharted, while trying to balance on the
everchanging edge between originality and insanity.
I’m really good at
Thinking? But definitely not at small talk.
The first things people usually notice about me
You tell me :)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I read quite a lot, but mostly non-fiction, because... real life is
SO interesting anyway, why bother reading fiction :) I have enjoyed
some fiction books as well, of course, especially fantasy and
sci-fi style. Maybe I should pick up a few of them again and take a
few days and just enjoy...
Movies? Occasionally, but not often. Some markers of possibly
interesting movies for me: related to Asia (incl. Japan) (e.g. The
Hero, movies by Takeshi, cartoons by Hayao Miyazaki), some tech /
sci-fi stuff (e.g. Star Wars, Pi), maybe a bit freaky (but not
horror) (Pi, Fight Club), very positively emotional (Amelié),
...
Music... Better check my homepage for a short list for examples.
(aha, you probably don't know the address of my homepage :D Feel
free to ask from me.)
Food. Good food. Slow food. Simple, homey, but high quality, food.
Healthy food (within reason, no "carrots only" lunches, please).
The six things I could never do without
Freedom (not to be confused with irresponsibility).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what makes things in the world to work the way they do. And how to
make things that don't exist yet.
And how to find people who think like me, and how to become friends
with them :D
On a typical Friday night I am
Friday night? Like today? Let me see... currently I'm enjoying
the... What? Today is Thursday? Tuesday? Where do you get those
labels for days anyway? Oh, okay. Whatever. Next question :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Private?? I dunno... Well, I sometimes smile and say "Hi" to dogs
on streets... I say "Sorry" to trees if I accidentally stumble upon
them... Is that private enough? :D
