I live in Decatur, Georgia I do IT Security for a multinational in the Atlanta area. I love what I do because every day makes me have to think so I would imagine since taking this job my critical thinking level has grown stronger and inquisitive nature has been satisfied at work.
I love talking politics philosophy and religion, so I appreciate strong personalities. My philosophy on life: whatever turns you on.
About two and a half years ago I had neck surgery for some cervical bones that were impacting my nerves and had C4-7 replaced with cadaver bones and a metal plate and some screws put in. It's been a rough go of it but I think I've come out better on the other side since I know a lot more about who I am. I've been having a great time getting back out and meeting new people since I took it easy the last couple of years.
I love hearing about other people's passion. That is the one way I will listen to anyone talk about almost anything. The light in their eyes, their exuberance. It is transfixing for me.
What I’m doing with my life
Riding around with the top down and enjoying life, climbing Stone Mountain, yoga classes on occasion for core strength and stretching, hitting the local bar or music venue to hang with friends. Sitting in a bookstore and reading or swimming in the pool with a drink in my hand. Being lazy on the couch while I watch movies. Learning, reading books - it is a great way to escape without plunging too much time into the TV or computer. I grudgingly admit that the Kindle I got for Christmas back in 2010 was a great present and have bought a bunch of books at 2am. A lot better than restlessly sleeping and running to the bookstore as soon as you get up to get the next book in a series you weren't sure you'd like.
I absolutely have to have friends that are doing things and moving forward or backwards, so long as they are moving. I love to hear about others experiences and seeing someone so intense about a particular subject is the real joy of life. I'd love to share my interests and indulge in yours.
I’m really good at
Getting to know others, relating to other people, debating about things that probably don't really matter in the scheme of things, surfing wikipedia using my click-throughs as a stream of consciousness, improving during one of our monthly murder mysteries I run, and just having a good laugh. I enjoy traveling occasionally though I admit I've been to a fair number of places so that often takes a back seat to experiencing events here in Atlanta. Having an overactive imagination.
The first things people usually notice about me
Sense of humor maybe - the fact I smile and laugh a whole whole lot? The fact that if I see someone in a group not engaged in a conversation, I seek them out because they often have the most interesting things to bring to the table.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite books are pretty much anything by attorneys turned authors, historical fiction, some fantasy, a small bit of sci-fi, books on philosophy and religion.
TV shows: West Wing will always be first in my book, Rick and Morty, Community, Parks & Rec, Mad Men, 30 Rock...if it's funny or engaging in a particular way I'll give it a shot.
I love almost all music, though if you are a music snob I will think you are way cooler than I because I don't know a lot of names of things and probably haven't heard what you are listening to.
I love lots of movies. I mean lots. I am a total sucker for a cliche romantic movie, but would honestly prefer a thriller of some sort or a mystery. If I had to say favorite movie of all time, I can't help putting the Dark Crystal since ever since I saw that in elementary school that's the default answer. I do love a good 80's movie, cheese and all.
Food is anything that isn't really spicy. I will probably eat the spicy but then sweat a lot and my stomach will explode so best to keep me on the kiddie table for that kind of meal...but I will try!
The six things I could never do without
Google, companionship, food, the sun, sleep and my cats. Even though they're both jerks in their own way.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Other people's motivation, my own motivation, how things work, why we are here, what comes after, where I am heading, where you are heading and why.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends. Trying to chase a good dance floor or if I decide
I can't find that with friends at least a good house party.
Occasionally a cup of tea and an early night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I met my ex-girlfriend online and she hated me. Then we met in a gay bar and hit it off somehow. At which point I pretended not to recognize her until we got to know each other better.
You should message me if
You have a cat-friendly dog. I have dreams of dating a girl who has a small to medium sized dog I never have to date and then Voltron (my cat who loves anything that smells like a dog) becomes his best friend and I never have to take care of the dog because there's no way I'm getting out of bed to take him out to pee ever.
You have ambition. It doesn't have to be about work, life itself or a hobby. Just have passion for something.
