Books: Sci-fi that makes you think, and nonfiction on pressing
topics are my biggest categories. Green Metropolis, The Omnivore's
Dilemma, Asimov, Discworld, H.P. Lovecraft, Let the Right One In,
Christopher Moore, Borges, Phantom of the Opera, Pride and
Prejudice, Ray Bradbury. Also some things that aren't fiction but
read like it; Tokyo Vice and The Devil in the White City. Sometimes
books on architecture and design. Of course I love Harry
Movies: Tongue-in-cheek action movies, Kung-Fu movies,
documentaries on world issues. Tarantino, Kubrick, old Disney,
Studio Ghibli. The 5th Element, The Big Lebowski, The Red Violin,
The Matrix, Godfather, Shawshank, The Sting, Terminator, stuff by
the Marx Brothers, this could go on for a while (I used to work at
a movie theater)
Shows: I tend towards comedy, but I love anything with good
writing. Portlandia, Always Sunny, Arrested Development, Parks and
Rec, Quick Draw, Orange is the New Black, American Horror Story, 30
Rock, Futurama, American Dad, Boondocks, Adventure Time, South
Park, Ugly Americans, AbFab, Mitchell and Webb, Drunk History,
Monty Python, occasionally the stuff on Current TV. Love anime that
isn't all filler and cutesy.
Music: Classic Rock and 80s. Beatles, Hendrix, Talking Heads,
Bowie, Yes, DEVO, Duran-Duran, Daft-Punk, Justice, The Like,
!!!(Chk Chk Chk), The Kinks, Animals, Pixies, Pretty Reckless, Amy
Winehouse, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Tiger Lilies, Yellow Magic
Orchestra, and Lady Gaga but don't ask me what any of them are
doing at the moment. I'll give almost anything a chance as long as
it isn't too formulaic, show me experimental stuff!
Video Games: On hiatus right now, I love talking about game design,
and if I won the lotto I'd start a studio.
Comedians: Eddie Izzard, George Carlin, Mitch Hedberg, Dylan Moran.
Sarcastic and offbeat like myself, narcissism maybe?
Food: Basically anything and everything when I'm out, when I'm home
or packing lunch I try to keep it healthy. Ribs and chicken wings,
cower in fear! Nothing is too spicy! I also like sushi and Indian
food and I'm always looking to try new places.
