Pffff....really?
I am a pretty "crazy" person (in a good way I would like to think). I have experienced living in different countries and I have learned a lot from their cultures. I could not see my life doing something different from learning. I enjoy talking to the driver from Ethiopia about the origin of the word Addis Ababa, going to a science seminar (at least the first 15 minutes), or reading the ingredients of the shampoo (really).
From a professional point of view, I am quite idealistic and maybe naive. I make my decisions based on what I think I enjoy, what I am good at but, mostly, what I think is worth fighting for. That has been a good idea so far :)
In love matters, that is even more the case.
I am very thoughtful but I don't always let reason win over emotions and don't look at the practical side of things. So sometimes I wish I was a bit more cautious. Thankfully, I am disciplined, hardworking and have a huge ability to improvise, so things have worked out well for me, but I have a few stitches and pumbs here and there. Very well healed though :)
So still having big dreams, big plans, and a big heart.

I currently live in Baltimore, where I am starting a postdoctoral position. Recovering from the most unfortunate series of events last year! Details upon request. It is so bad it gets kind of comical. Definitively happy it is over!

Listening to my guts (they KNOW). Taking care of family and friends. Talking to strangers. Connecting with people. Understanding different points of view. Forgiving. Creating things (crafts). Improvising fun plans. Detailed and analytical work. Researching topics and getting to the core of things. Having integrity and being fair. Making a fool of myself (intentionally and unintentionally). Geography. Running and kicking your #$*@ (kickboxing). Cleaning my room and making a mess of it immediately after. Being extraordinarily goofy. Losing my keys. Speaking really fast (according to my dad, I sound like the end of the commercials of medications in Spain, where they say all the side effects and indications in basically 10 seconds)

I am the tall thin girl with an accent.

Movies: The Life of Others is one of the most human, gorgeous and elegant movies I have seen. Cinema Paradiso, Amelie, City of God, Blood Diamond, The Painted Veil, Hotel Rwanda, Biutiful, Of Gods and Men (slow but amazing), The Seventh Seal, Eight and a Half, Peter's friends, The Apartment,....In Spanish: Los Santos Inocentes, La Lengua de las Mariposas, Volver, Cria Cuervos, Fresa y Chocolate, Vente a Alemania, Pepe ;)

Food: ALL except melon, cucumber, leeks, liver, mayonnaise, and beer. Food is the best thing in the world. It makes us happy, it cures us, it is the perfect excuse to share time with others, and it is always there.

Shows: I am not a TV person, but I have enjoyed some very good shows like Band of Brothers, The Wire, Mad Men (Ohhh, Don Draper), No Reservations (Ohhh, Anthony Bourdain).

The rest I could do without.

Science, my work, my project, my career. Family and friends. It kills me that they are so far away and I try really hard to keep in touch. Travels or other exciting plans. My future life. Still so much to do in all fronts! I feel like I have a white canvas ready to be used. It is very exciting but it makes me feel vertigo sometimes. There are so many options, it is intimidating. But I feel privileged for having them so I don't complain.

I DO NOT like being at home unless I have a good reason to. I am from Spain, ok? We are always out and I grew up like this. We walk to places, we take the bus, we travel, we are very gregarious AND we eat outside a lot. So I better be outside with friends or having a nice plan with someone special at home.

I get so focused and involved in what I am doing, I can be a real mess in some aspects. They are not very important aspects though. But I have this duality that gets me into trouble sometimes.
